I'm not saying all republicans or conservatives are racist. Some are, and I think Donald Trump is among them.
Just look at the idiot George W. Bush... No one asked how he got into an Ivy League school. And, yes, I know he was a legacy, but the man is still an idiot, and shouldn't have had access to such an institution because his daddy pulled some strings.

I suspect that I'll get tarred for this...but I think a large portion of the idiot bit was an act. Watch some clips from his early political career. He was capable of using big words. Competent public speaker, assertive, could crack a joke, etc etc etc.

I know pulling out the race card is likely to get me slammed. However, I find it odd that no other president has been attacked in such a way. It begs the question, "What's so different about Obama?" His race is the obvious answer... I'm just sayin'.

I don't doubt that race is a factor in some (or many) cases. However, I know a lot of republicans/conservatives who aren't racist, and they spewed plenty of bullshit during the Clinton administration.

I agree. i think there is quite a lot of racism directed at Obama, but I was thinking of Clinton myself. The republican party practically stalked the man through both terms, especially his second, and looked for absolutely any flaw and magnified it 10000 times.

The whole Lewinski debacle was a farce. It should have been a non-issue. Imagine what would have been found if people stalked Kennedy that way and dragged him through the mud?

The bottom line about the Harvard thing is that it is a big money school. Of course he should have access to such an institution. How the hell else are we supposed to pay for all the cool shit they got up in Cambridge?

First, I don't like all the "October surprise" stuff, whether practiced by Gloria Allred, Donald Trump or anyone else. If a citizen knows something meaningful about a candidate they should share it well in advance of the election so it can be researched and digested by other citizens.

That said, I like what Trump has done here. I think someone running for President owes it to fellow citizens to be transparent and share records such as tax returns, birth certificate, college transcripts and passport data. Since Obama has been unwilling to release the college and passport info, he leaves himself open to challenges and offers such as Trump's.

To the question or statement made about how this information might still not satisfy Trump (the anti-birther meme that "they still won't be satisfied no matter how much information he releases") it doesn't matter because the $5 million will already be paid out just for releasing the first batch of data.

I'm assuming that Obama would love to shut Trump up. He has an opportunity here to do that, and could pick a charity that Trump doesn't like, just for the satisfaction of it. Given the good that could be done with the money, I have to wonder why Obama doesn't do it, if that ends up being the case.

Not necessarily. He used the words "to my satisfaction" as a qualifier for the documents. Personally, I'm wondering why anyone even cares about these records anyway. Sure, he is running for president, but is this stuff even relevent, and if so, how?

I think the biggest problem with Trumps "offer" IS that it comes off as blackmail. If Obama releases the info, it can be taken as a weak move, and people (less wholesome than Trump even), might think they can threaten the president in the same way, with a reward. And make no mistake, even though it's phrased as a reward, what Trump has done is a threat.

Also the birthers, like all whackjob conspiracy theorists, will not be satisfied with anything he releases, no matter what. It will be forged or suspect, or used against him in someway.

If Obama doesn't give in, then he's a villain who didn't do something simple to get 5 mil for a charity.

It's a lose/lose for Obama. Trump is a slime, but a clever slime no doubt to set up this unhappy situation at a crucial time. No matter what Obama does, he WILL lose something in this situation. He gains nothing either way.

I've only seen a little on this but I think that Trump thinks Obama may have claimed other citizenship as part of his academic records or while travelling oversease.
