Which tree should I bark up pray Thor?

The status qoe of "Christian Nation" pissed off Sam Harris to the point of writing a book titled "Letter To A Christian Nation". But since those 9,000 who have singed that petition in 1 day havent become famous writers like him, they are all barking up the wrong tree.

I do know what I am doing and so do the 9,000 people who signed that petition.

Barking at attempts of pecking orders on issues of religion deserves barking, roaring and bitch slapping!

Otherwise as an atheist yourself, don't make waves in Iran because you "might" upset them.

Let me spell this out for you...

The two things you seek to change are codified into US Federal Code. This is the purview of Congress. The President lacks the power to make the changes you seek, and even if he had the power, would not likely due so, nor is he likely to do anything more than say "talk to your Congressman".

Which, coincidentally, is precisely the person you should be talking to if you're interested in anything more than making a bluster on this issue.

It wouldn't matter if you had a hundred gazillion signatures on a petition, the President does not have the power to give you what you want.

On MSNBC tonight, Ed Schultz detailed the guy behind the Alabama Secession movement.

It seems that his main complaint is government "regulation" impacting his "freedom" because it cost him his business in 2001.

What, pray tell, was his business?

It was a topless car wash.

The laws and regulations which shut him down were city and state ordinances. The federal government had nothing whatsoever to do with it but when you are dealing with dumbfuck redneck assholes such nuances are lost.

Holy shit. You dont get it. The petition is not designed for a win. It is designed to get press. And not even for mass media, but US, YOU AND ME.

It is a tactic, not a total war where one battle is decisive.

And as far as the president not having the power to give me wha I want. Right now no. But that same power of exeutive order did end Dont Ask Dont Tell.

It isn't about sudden results. But read my signature. He AND the democratic party he ran for isn't exlusive or bigoted. No one who signed that petition expects a win. But it is a billboard for us, and it serves as long term progress.

Ah, so you're going for a symbolic win? Knock yourself out. Circle back to my initial question as to what you expect the President to do. Apparently the answer to that question is clear: nothing. That's fine, as long as we're clear on what's going to happen.

Do you understand the difference between issuing an executive order to change executive policy, and one to change law? I'll give you a hint... one is a legal power of the office of the president, and the other is not.

Oh god and vishnu and Osirus and wisky takgo foxtrot!

You focus on legality and this is not about a short legal win. This is merely ONE ONE ONE ONE tactic. It is like putting a cornerstone on a building.

You really got me. Obama is going to tommorrow declare "God" in our pledge and on our money illegal. Yes, I am that stupid to think it will happen tomorrow.

READ MY SIGNATURE!

Long before this petition, he gave atheists a shout out in his Inoguration which is where that quote came from.. This is like long term advertisement, much like Coke reminds you that they are still in the store you shop at.

Your argument is that this petition is a wasted effort. FINE, I dissagree that it is wasted even if it wont win a short term battle.

So if you are such a guru on how to make a entire nation steepted in magic baby stoiries in getting them to be as neutral as Jefferson had on the issue. I am all ears.

But the person who started it nor are the 9,000 people who signed it are as stupid as you want to make them or me out to be.

So poney up with your advice as to how you wouold do it?

Wow, you've read far more into what I'm saying that what was intended.

If your goal is raise awareness and get some press time, there's nothing wrong with what you're doing.

I was just curious what people expect to come of this when they're talking to the one branch of three who have no power to change it. You answered that, with far more bluster and reading between the lines than was necessary, but you answered it.

Whats wrong with owning a topless car wash? I don't care about that. I would however want to know what "regulations" he claimed hurt his business.

I do know that religious nuts have written legislation that has put strip clubs and porn shops out of business with rediculous codes. But that is not the same as merely having codes that every business abides by.

Religious politicians have used the code tactic to bypass Roe V Wade to make an abortion clinic vertually useless.
