Not a bad forum

RE: Not a bad forum
^ I'm not having a whinge, just pointing it out. If you're going to discuss religion and politics in an open forum then of course you're going to have disagreements.

I wasn't trying to be mean. I'd like for him to stay here. I was just sarcastically pointing out that AF.com is much less hospitable to theist's.

Scale of hospitibility to people who disagree:

AF.org > average atheist forum > AF.com > Atheism+ > Christian forums

Am I right? (feel free to rearrange it if you disagree)

This forum doesn't exist to give you a good impression of atheists. You're welcome here, but if you don't like the climate, there are plenty of more tightly-moderated forums out there where you can have these discussions. Maybe the religion and philosophy section of JREF would suit you better. Not trying to get rid of you (in fact, I hope you stay), but if you don't like it here, there are alternatives.

Go to AF.com They're really hospitable to theist's over there... Really, they are.

Actually, that might suit Stanley better. Not that I'm trying to get rid of him. I frequent both forums. Sometimes the attack dogs get on my nerves (can you let the new theist say something besides 'I'm a theist' before you start calling them names?) but you definitely will see it coming if they're thinking about banning you.

Plus, religious persons like myself are even nominated as Mods/Admins in this forum.

Cool

That's because you're not a cunt.

I love you.

*raises hand*

Well, only with some of it. As a regular on AF.com I would say that certain people are inhospitable, whereas some aren't.

It's just the nature of the forum, really. There are also a large number of members over there that come from pretty oppressive households (regarding religion) so sometimes a harsh critique of a theist's posts is to be expected.

Meh. It's just people, not the forum in its entirety (IMHO).

I'm here because the last forum I was a long-term productive member of collapsed and hasn't revived and since that time (what 3 years ago or so) I haven't had somewhere to discuss politics and religion online.

I can't remember receiving the memo that atheism had become a "world view".

RE: Not a bad forum
Thankyou to Daniel and everybody else for their honest replies.

I stand by the thread name, and have to say, this is not a bad forum at all, yes I am an atheist, and being an atheist helps me cope with replies from cato. You sir are certainly entitled to your views, however, my view is that we are all equal and that when you die you will be in exactly the same place as when I die, so calling me offensive names does not bother me in the slightest, it does not make me angry at all, infact, it seems to be you that is all wound up.

All the best to mods and admin, you keep it real, letting people voice their opinions without it getting personal, well done.

Great forum, I love you cato.

Really? I thought AF.com was relatively mild compared to some places I visit. (Zero registered users currently on line)
