I thought that was generally the criticism leveled at atheists by theists (No morals without god etc)?

My very best friend of 21 years isn't an atheist but he doesn't like "religious people" generally speaking and he doesn't hold the same beliefs that i do but he and I have always had the utmost respect for one another.

I also have many religious friends. Someone's personal beliefs really don't matter to me unless they make it an issue Smile

I disagree. I think the evolutionary argument for a system of fluid, subjective morales is pretty well made.

The responses I have seen tend to be in the "so what" category so I expect much of the same if it were to arise in a thread. I have love for my fellow man regardless of my religious affiliation but its difficult to express that unless you are face to face with another heartbeat. It's not easy to convey these things on a 3 inch monitor.
I would like to think I wouldn't be judged on how I feel about morality and the morality of others simply on my status as a Christian. Is it assumed that I'm going to think all atheists are amoral because I'm Christian?

Agreed

RE: bold. Not by me, but when one goes from personal experiences (from an Internet forum I add), then more often than not, in the eyes of a theist, I am a devil worshipped/amoral/evil (or whatever insult flys at a given time).

No doubt many members here have experienced a similar, almost standard, reaction.

I rather think this place sucks of late. When was the last time we had a webcam discussion? Forum birthday. We need shit like that more often, but without Summer actively here it's all died off.

That is why we need more shit like Accent Tag. Some pointless and stupid activity where we can watch each other talking to ourselves. Hell, we haven't had any poem reading in a while either. Someone should end the boredom.

You wouldn't happen to be the same musicman from tWeb who told me to go fuck myself for being an ingrateful atheist (simply for pointing out that his complaint about my ranting and whining was ill-founded on account of the fact that I was doing it in the section of the forum reserved for such ranting and whining; in my experience, Christians don't take well to having the obvious pointed out to them).

No I wouldn't be.

I have no doubt and theists also experience a similar reaction as well. Not so different after all, I guess.

Some of the atheists seem to have no clue as to how inhospitable their online personas are. Pretty weak actually if they want to represent atheism as a respectable world-view.
I wouldn't take it too seriously Daniel...I've been on plenty of forums where there's always some who come across like 7' tall kickboxers, especially when they're hiding behind the safety of their keyboards from their parents house.

And anyway the time spent on the net by us posting freaks, even if we were 7' tall kickboxers the fitness levels would have to come into question. Mind you I think the vast majority of us here are sweet little kittens like yourself Mr T.

How nice of you to give them the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately for you, they actually do. They're doing it on purpose.

Atheism also isn't a worldview. Humanism is.
