Meh? I didn't insult you, I didn't threaten you. I said that if you were going to cause trouble, we would remove you (a fair warning I thought). You made a comment that came across as if you were being forced out, and I am not having that kind of lying on these forums.

Easy. I'm not. I doubt very much that any of us here are 100% sure on anything. You are making a strawman argument over the definition of atheism / disbelief.

To me personally, nothing is disproven and nothing is proven. The best we can do is assign probabilities, and the probability of god existing is very low in my book.

Except I have been here for a while, and I haven't caused trouble yet. The only time you felt moved to threaten to ban me was when I reacted poorly to your behavior... I maintain, if you want me to leave, make it a poll. If more people want me to leave I will. I respect you guys, and your right to believe what you want. Don't threaten to ban me for no reason, it makes you come of as petty. "Remove" me if it suits you.

Quote:that kind of lying
I take GREAT offense to the accusation of lying. GREAT offense. If you think I made a comment that is fallacious enough (and with intent) to be called a lie, make it clear. Point it out. Don't call me a liar, it is the most offensive thing someone can call me. Unless you can show where I lied (or where you misunderstood).

Then we agree, and we can stop bickering?

Thanks Adrian.

RE: Ex Theists
Why are you offended by the accusation of being a liar? Because if you didn't lie what have you got to be worried about? If you indeed, aren't a liar - then can't you handle it if people incorrectly believe you are something that you're in fact, not?

Can't please everyone (it's hard enough pleasing one person consistently).

RE: Ex Theists
It is not that I have to lash out in fear of being found out a liar. It is the very fact that I do my best to never ever lie (although believing falsehood to be true and joking aside). So if someone says I am lying I demand to have them explain why they think so. I feel the need to defend myself from the very point that I feel I am not a liar, not that I fear you will find out I am... But I was kinda talking to Adrian.

This is the kind of stuff I'm talking about. I never threatened to ban you for no reason. I warned you that making comments that come across as though you "aren't wanted" here or that you are being "forced out" won't be viewed well since they are blatant lies.

Take great offence then; I don't care. Firstly, you lied when saying that nobody cared what you thought, and putting it at the end of your post as a kind of jab isn't good form either.

Secondly, you lied and said "Adrian, that's two posts today with no content and only threats and insults". My posts always have content and are never just "only threats and insults". I never threatened you; I gave you a fair warning. I told you you were free to leave if you felt that people didn't want you here, but that if you continued with the lying and playing the victim, we would have no choice but to ban you.

Thirdly, you lied in your above post. I've never threatened to ban you for no reason, and your accusation of me being "petty" is unfounded.

Sure. I actually like having you around. I'd hate to see you leave or us forced to kick you out (and that's the truth).

If you took my comment to mean that I felt unwanted or forced out of the forum or conversation, then you misunderstood. If you threatened to ban me for misunderstanding what I said, than that counts as threatening to ban me for no reason. If you took my comment to mean something I did not intend it to, that does not make me a liar.

Quote:Firstly, you lied when saying that nobody cared what you thought,
I didn't say no one cared what I though, and I did not lie. I made the comment because I felt that the first response from the community was that I am not allowed to post in a thread called "Ex-theists" because I am a theist. Thinking that I was going to be marginalized because I am a theist (although also an ex-theist), I made a comment about how my answer to the open question would likely be dismissed. I don't quite see that as a lie. I am not intentionally misrepresenting the truth about anything...

Quote:and putting it at the end of your post as a kind of jab isn't good form either
It seems funny that you are declaring me in bad form.

Quote:but that if you continued with the lying and playing the victim, we would have no choice but to ban you.

I maintain my furor at being called a liar. I am no such thing. I know you think I play the victim. I disagree. But if you want to try to ban me, like you did before, try quoting what rule I broke in the official message, and not copy and paste from our disagreement. If you say "I think you are lying and playing the victim" and then the message of why I am banned says the same, I am led to believe I am being banned for personal reasons. If you feel I have left you no choice but to ban me, than that is all you.

Quote:Thirdly, you lied in your above post. I've never threatened to ban you for no reason, and your accusation of me being "petty" is unfounded.
Firstly, I did not lie. I have explained it already, but for clarity let me repeat. I feel that threatening to ban me for one sentence that you misunderstood counts as nothing. So if I truly feel that you are threatening to ban me for nothing, to say so is not a lie at all. Just because we disagree, one of us is not necessarily lying. I think this whole conversation could be best described as petty.

I really, really don't want to go there Adrian. I have tried to explain what I meant by the "No one cares" comment, and I hope you update your reality to fit my description. I don't care if you feel the sudden need to ban me, then by all means relieve yourself. But don't play like I am forcing it on you because you misunderstood something, and decided to repeatedly call me a liar. I feel that I should be given a chance to explain what you misunderstood, and defend your accusations of my un-truth.

Hopefully we can figure this out without it going as far as it did last time.
Thank you,
-Pip
