Dear Mr Drich,

Thank you for your very nice letter. My, you do ask for a lot, don't you? I hope you've been a very good boy!

Unfortunately, since you appear to use a rather... idiosyncratic spelling style, I am having a little difficulty
understanding just what it is you are asking for. It looks like you want me to smash all your teeth out with
a hammer and chisel this year, then hang you up on your Christmas tree by next to the balls. I do hope I'm right!

See you real soon!

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

"One" meaning bible.

Quote:Come on Drich, I have asked a serious question, and you want to play silly buggers.
Then ask your question. You have more than enough information now.

Quote:So you are saying that there is no english version of the bible which is 100% the word of god.
Begs the question

Quote:I will try again. This question is to find out what you use for yourself. Which bible(s) do you use?
again It depends on what I am doing. I gave you a list already.

Quote: If there is more then one please tell us which one you consider to be the one closest to the word of god in english?
The 'Word of God' is a term used to describe a revelation from God. Any Holy bible can be considered or even contain 'The word of God.' To ask which revelation is the cloest revelation of God is to not understand the term you are using, nor how bibles are translated.

Quote:Please provide the links to each one. The reason I want this is so there is no mistakes or confusion made on our part if you provide the links to each version. This way you will have more time to answer questions. Smile
In the link provided their is a drop down simply click on the arrow and then click on any of the translations I listed. It's not a hard thing to do.

Quote:I am after links to each version, see above.
Big Grin did you not follow any of the links? The blue letter is a specific bible. It was the only one not included in the first link.

Quote:Really you have not been clear. Your have been acting like a politician.
This is EXACTLY what this thread is about! I do not appear clear to you because you do not understand the depths of the questions you are asking. You have a singular understanding and believe your understanding is the only way 'christianity' (as you understand it) can work. This is what I have identified as a 'sunday school understanding' of this religion.
You have a very basic simplistic understanding of Christianity and believe it to be the gold standard in which All Christians Must operate, and when someone gives you an answer that is different than what you expect. you believe that they are evading the question because the answer given does not align with the your limited understanding. Meaning you are too proud to acknoweledge that you question is so far off base that you can not recognise a proper answer when one is given.

Quote:How can we ask you questions about the bible if you cannot tell us which version.
This is a another perfect example of what I just said. you believe that all christians have to only subscribe to one bible.(You even admit this later on) Even in light of the fact that I directly told you I use many different translation depending on what it is I am doing. But, none of this matters to you, because it does not match up to the sterotype you are working with. Which causes you dismiss what was actually said because you believe with all of your mind that all christians can ONLY have one bible. Read this next part carefully as I am only going to tell you this once more. I use more than one bible. If you want to know which one I use in a given situation then provide the situation and ask a question.

Quote: I am actually amazed that there is not one bible you use since it is supposed to be the word of god.
Again you do not understand the term you are using nor how bibles are translated. If you want to know about either then ask a question.

Quote:Would that not mean there is only one bible which is correct(or close as possible being correct due to translation problems.)
No, not if doctrinal issues are not a concern. Again I primarily seek out literal translations which are the cloestest to a word for word translation as possiable in the english. But do not limit myself to them, especially if I am tring to explain a complex story like the parables of the talents to someone who has never heard it before. So instead of using a KJV or Amplified I wll use a NIV or Easy to read version. Same story it's just in the dynamic or paraphrasic translation the 1st century greek idiom "Talent" has been replaced with a modern term "Bags of money" or large sum of gold. For me as a teacher it is far more important that the core concept is understood, than the foolish idea of scriptural purity.

I know you did not ask, but Here is an artical on how bibles were and are translated: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bible_translations

Quote:It just come to me. I assume you go to church. Which bible does your church use? Please provide the publisher and anything else so we can know which one it is.
It depends on who is preaching, and what they are preaching about. Amplified, NKJV, NIV, Easy to Read, KJV, American Standard, the McAuther study bible. The Blue letter was used just a few weeks ago.

Can we get to this so important life changing question now?

ROFLOL

Then why not stop? If you are above all of this why come back? why issue challenges why engauge in the conversations at all? There are only few people ever I feel 'pain' when I interact with them still. my solution.. I don't interact with them any more.

Do you really need that one up to walk away? Do you need to feel like you bested me some how? If this is all it takes to give you the peace you need then just tell me and the next topic is yours to 'win.'

I'll let you set me up and knock me down, then you can move on like a 女武芸者 with honor in tact.

Can you show me an online dictionary where this is the case. I am quite confident that you will not, so just admit you tried avoid the question by trying be a smart ass.

Quote:Then ask your question. You have more than enough information now.
Yes any translation will do for your purposes.

Quote:The 'Word of God' is a term used to describe a revelation from God. Any Holy bible can be considered or even contain 'The word of God.' To ask which revelation is the cloest revelation of God is to not understand the term you are using, nor how bibles are translated.
What's so special(or different) about the translating of the bible compared to other texts. Thinking

Quote:Big Grin did you not follow any of the links? The blue letter is a specific bible. It was the only one not included in the first link.
I did follow link and seem to be a tool to search different versions of the bible. I could be wrong, not interested enough in the bible to read more of that site.

ROFLOL You think politicians never try to avoid questions. Those poor politicians are just so misunderstood.
Quote:You have a singular understanding and believe your understanding is the only way 'christianity' (as you understand it) can work. This is what I have identified as a 'sunday school understanding' of this religion.
True, christianity is bullshit
Quote:You have a very basic simplistic understanding of Christianity and believe it to be the gold standard in which All Christians Must operate, and when someone gives you an answer that is different than what you expect. you believe that they are evading the question because the answer given does not align with the your limited understanding. This is what I heard Blah Blah Blah.

When you are on this forum and someone asks you a question about the holy bible which one do you use to refer to?( I have provided a situation and asked a question)

No different than translating other texts.

Quote:Can we get to this so important life changing question now?
If you want, yes, what is it?

I didn't say Anything to you at all. Maybe use a Japanese translation software before you run in half cocked.

Right, because Jesus said, "Put a cap in thy enemy's ass."

(BTW, a person such as yourself with such a tenuous grip on reality carrying a concealed firearm is my worst nightmare, but I guess that's the price I pay for living in this country.)
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell
