I'm wondering why a worldview that is self-attesting needs an apologetic. Or a priestly class.

What one thing would disprove Christianity to you?

Follow the money.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'
I have to admit that that is a good question. I have never really thought of a "defeater" for my faith.
What kind of defeater are you proposing? Is it one based on logic or faith?
Yes, I am a Christian on these forums. I am not here to judge or condemn, rather, I am here to debate, learn, and incite discussion. Yes, I think that my avatar is hilarious.

Given the appropriate premises, I can defend your faith with logic. Logic is a tool, not much different than statistics. What you are after is the difference between reason and faith. Your logic can be sound; however, only reason can test the premises. Your faith doesn't fear logic, it fears reason. You got me there! Didn't really mean to make it a false dilemma. Hm. Taking an existentialist viewpoint, I guess that in order to have my faith, I would have to abandon reason. In other words, having faith is an absurdity because I have to abandon reason. Yet, I still believe. I have a question. Based on your statement: "Your logic can be sound; however, only reason can test the premises" can this statement itself be proven with logic? On this thread's question, I would say that my defeater would be if I didn't feel anything from God. That would be my defeater.

The arguments I've seen connecting the existence of God to the existence of of the Christian God are more convoluted than the game board to Chutes and Ladders. What do you mean by "feel"? I'm guessing you mean as in desire. What makes you think this "feeling" implies anything about the existence of the Christian God and the Christian reality?
My ignore list
"The lord doesn't work in mysterious ways, but in ways that are indistinguishable from his nonexistence." -- George Yorgo Veenhuyzen quoted by John W. Loftus in The End of Christianity (p. 103). Quote: The arguments I've seen connecting the existence of God to the existence of of the Christian God are more convoluted than the game board to Chutes and Ladders I admit that most of the arguments are circular. Quote:What do you mean by "feel"? I do not mean "desire." I mean actually feel Christ in my heart. Feeling as in a soothing peace that is inexpiable. A fire that burns in my heart. A feeling that is physical, yet mysterious.

What makes you certain that the source of your feeling is external?
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

They have scientific lab tested and peer reviewed........Oh wait, "I just know my feelings are", which is nothing but denial that they are pulling crap out of their butts because the woo is sexier than mundane reality. They know it just like a kid believes in Santa, it sounds nice. RE: What one thing would disprove Christianity to you?

You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.
