Buddhism, against having fun.

RE: Buddhism, against having fun.
Considering that the Dalai Lama essentially subjected hundreds of serfs to degradation, humiliation, hard labor, inhumane punishment, and other such "peaceful" actions, I'd just as soon spit in the Dalai Lama's face as shake his hand.

A bunch of bull. I must have missed this in the history books of Tibet I read, written by the way by western scholars.

I recant my statement. The individuals making the claim are of the Chinese Communist Party. I should've read a bit closer in the past. I just dug up the articles and read over them some more. ALL written by Chinese sources.

And the good ol' nation of cheap poorly-made garbage is gonna have to forgive me for not taking any of its propogand- I mean, investigation results seriously.

Good thing I haven't yet met the Dalai Lama face to face yet, eh? That'd be a bit of a bad misunderstanding...

My opinion of Buddhism is largely apathetic, with a mild little dash of antipathy, just for its rejection of certain aspects of humanity that in truth make no sense whatsoever in its forms of rejection.

That's crazy! Is it because they are not the exact same person??

This was already slightly elaborated on in the O.P.

Just saying that what C.O.H. Said here
Quote:with a mild little dash of antipathy, just for its rejection of certain aspects of humanity that in truth make no sense whatsoever in its forms of rejection.

Was previously elaborated on in the op. I'm saying I think that's what Coh was referring to... Maybe.

Ok then, lets say its elaboration lies in post #7

I find the concept of having to suffer for sins comitted in a previous life to be disturbing.
The usual religions preach that one has to suffer in the "afterlife", but in buddism one has to suffer or suffers during one life, for the sins of a previous life.
This can be used to justify grose social injustice.

And I just find it outright weird how it is marketed as a DIY way of healing the psyche or giving a meaning to ones life to lonely housewifes.

I have better ways to give a meaning to my life, know that buddism cant stand up to modern psycology and have much better things to waste my money on.
But as long as it doesn`t hurt anyone or is as loud, annoying and obtrusive as other religions, I dont have a problem.

Maybe you shouldn't make unfounded grandiose statements since modern psychology has a huge internal criticism, and that 2 Harvard trained psychiatrists (with M.D.s) translate Madhyamaka books etc.
