Could someone explain to me why they are atheists? Like your logic thinking etc. Because I'm a christian and I would really like to at least understand your point of view.

For me, it's simple: until and unless a God proves to me that they exist, I'm an atheist. I'm open minded to the existance of Gods, but I haven't seen enough evidence to convince me yet.
I live on facebook. Come see me there. http://www.facebook.com/tara.rizzatto

I'm an atheist because I haven't yet come across any evidence or reason for believing that there is a God. Unlike TaraJo, I don't require "proof", just good evidence and a good reason.

Handled easily enough, I don't believe in god anymore than you believe in Snow White. That's really all there is to it.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
If a god exists, why does it require me to believe other believers and their claims that such a god exists? (sounds like we're up against something man-made).
There are and have been so many believers in different gods throughout history... why would I accept one claim over another? (seems like something man-made). Religions tend to be mutually exclusive and appear to be mostly man-made... so my best guess states that they are all man-made, hence there's no REASON to believe. Do you have any "logic thinking" to why you believe? (December 22, 2012 at 8:53 am)michaelbest55 Wrote: Could someone explain to me why they are atheists? I was about to believe, but being the curious kid I was, I tried to verify that claim. Too bad, I found no proof of his existence. Now, unless something/someone is able to prove that God exists, I will continue to be an atheist. I believe logic is universal to anybody. However, some people choose to override it with something called "FAITH".
Therefore, Aliens.

Why are there 3,800 deities that are supposedly "The on true god"?? Can you explain to me why you still believe in an all powerful deity that is supposedly looking after a planetary population that is basically starving and suffering all manner of "God sent Natural disasters"? by the way "The Universe is run by the complex interweaving of three elements: energy, matter, and enlightened self-interest." I have to agree with has been posted already.
For the vast majority of atheists, atheism is a provisional position. As long as there continues to be insufficient demonstrable evidence, reasoned argument and valid logic to support the existence of a god, my atheism will continue. You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
What Simon Moon said, basically.
