If I were you, I would properly wait it out since religion seems like a big deal in your family. There have been people shunned because of their beliefs, and it would be horrible to stand alone with all of this. In time you will find your peers, and “coming out of the closet” will be much easier by then. So have patience.
And eh, trombone… really? How awesome ! 
Ps. What’s this talk about lesbians?

I imagine it'd be a great deal less fun for you, although... if you're comfortable with receiving pleasure without giving an orgasm in return: It'd work out fairly well

I'll wait. One of my exes was transgendered, too, but we didn't really get to the sex. I was like, "I really like you and all, but you still have a penis and I'm not really sure about all that." She assured me it was really small, but that was not enough assurance for me. 
And yay, cookies! Chocolate chip, right? None of that oatmeal or peanut butter cookie nonsense -- I will not stand for it!
