A thank you...
RE: A thank you...
I suggested he wait until April 1st this year to 'come out' officially, and see who believed it.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Whoa there...

Am I reading this right? Someone applied for and was granted permission to make a sock puppet Poe account?

All this time I thought catfish was delusional (and I'm not saying he isn't, as he falsely accused me of being a sock puppet). But is he partially correct?

If I'm reading this correctly it really tarnishes the credibility of this forum. (Not that internet forums have much credibility to begin with, but just sayin.)

Oh yeah John V, I do believe I owe you an appology. I saw the "woo" thread and I am no longer 99.9% sure of you being a sock. There's still a posibility, but it's marginal at best now. Smile

I would say that your so vaunted 'credibility' is pretty much worthless and I couldn't possibly care less about what you deem credible.

What can they say? There's an unofficial rule to this forum and pretty much every forum out there: get into good enough standing, show the moderators that you're productive and you wind up getting more leeway with stuff like that. Newbies get a really short leash and get smacked with the ban hammer pretty damn quick. Yep, if you have a few thousand productive posts first, I have to guess that the moderators would have been willing to let you create a sock puppet account, too (although, part of me wonders if this discussion alone is making them rethink that). The sock puppet accounts they have a problem with are the ones trolls make to avoid a banning: Get one account banned, just come on here with another account and start posting the same stupid shit.

Straw man - I don't vaunt my credibility.

I doubt it. You forget one factor - beliefs in the board mainstream. I doubt that a Christian fitting your criteria would have been allowed to make an atheist Poe sock puppet.

Yep. Atheists get more leeway on atheist forums. Just like Christians get to do things their way on Christian forums (In fact, isn't there a Christian forum out there that specifically bans atheists from posting anywhere but a sub forum specifically designated for atheists?). That's just the way things work. If you don't like it, you're more than welcome to go buy a site and start your own forum where you can moderate it however you want.
