First extract of Richard Dawkins new book.

RE: First extract of Richard Dawkins new book.
If such is an assumption, then so is all of our science and knowledge (which it is). However, i think it holds up to the same rigors of logic as all other sciences. Smile I suppose we'll just have to agree to disagree if you don't accept existentialism Smile

Edit: and off i go for a while. To school, away from school, that's life Smile

Well, if this (from Wiki),:

Existential philosophy is the "explicit conceptual manifestation of an existential attitude" that begins with a sense of disorientation and confusion in the face of an apparently meaningless or absurd world.

.. is existentialism then I think you can safely assume I think it's over-intellectualised bollocks (pretty why I have the kind of view I have of modern philosophy in the first place).

It would seem some Dawkin's followers would better spend their time learning from astrophysist Stephen Hawkin's. Try this for $11.00!
The Theory of Everything: The Origin and Fate of the Universe

Frankly, I've read the "The Greatest Show On Earth: Evidence for evolution" and found the writing style inconsistent with his other book "The God Delusion", which I found was fkn fantastically written, whereas the newest addition digresses so much that I trully feel it was either a very well written first draft, or showed signs of early on set that has seeped into the material.
Some of the reasons I found this to be the case include the frequent use of the term digress in excusing himself to go off on tangents.
The inconsistant pace of reading where you can hum through several lots of pages and then get snowed under with technical details limited to the more understanding in the field. While I found that I did really appreciate the understanding I gained, this did detract from the professional writting style he'd used previously. And I did enjoy the book overall, it just seemed to lack a certain amount of impact found in earlier books. Worthwhile reading.
None the less - I wouldn't argue finite and infinite until you're up to speed with Hawkin's theorum of quantum physics.
