RE: Let's say that science proves that God exists

Personally I would think that every fundamental group on the planet would go haywire. I believe the weak-minded would be lured into various theists' traps, and we will see a whole new wave of religious wars.
I mean, think of how this information would play on a political scene. Just look at most Muslim countries or even the US!
With an actual proof of God’s existence, all theists would properly see the “proven God” as the God reflected in their mind. The proof will also strengthen their belief, properly driving them towards whatever ultimate goal they would have.
I would properly start building a bunker and begin hoarding guns and food.

Though if you think God can be "scientifically proven" then of course what you have is entirely the wrong idea.
"One can only be understood by itself. As such, One is always alone, all one, and no thing can exist to describe it."
That's the kind of thing we're talking, in other words you can't prove it exists not ever.

From science, I believe that something bigger than what we can perceive exists. Similarly I don't believe in free will.
Putting faith in science discovering this is in your lifetime not too dissimilar to putting faith in god.
I don't believe it is possible to work out 96% of the universe in my lifetime, and what kicked it all off, without still having a "why?" question as old as time.

Any god you can prove with science would be a false god, an idol not worth of your worship and adoration.

I once read this story where twenty minutes into the future, humanity figures out how time travel and wonder what would happen if they sent the machine as far back in time as possible. They figure out that the state of the universe would not support the existence of the machine and the resulting disturbance would lead to an even like the Big Bang.
So saying that science proves god, science proves a creator of the universe or science proves an intelligent cause behind the universe are three different things. Specify what do you mean exactly by science proving god - that is, which god did it prove and that would give you the answer to your questions.

It might be worth the inevitable global religious war to see the look on all the Abrahamic preachers' faces when God turns out to be Ceiling Cat.

Slightly tangential, but this reminds me of the fascinating explanation given a few years ago for the Large Hadron Collider's failure to find the Higgs Boson - that the machine was
sabotaging itself from the future.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

The Bible would cease to be rational, and would be consigned to history. All major religions would likewise fall apart. A new wave of fundamentalism would take it's place.
