Why did god made death?

I most certainly wouldn't be very happy living forever. I mean, for the first say, thousand years: it's not so bad... but eventually, you'll lose interest. Life without death is life without food, life without feeling, life without living. It would be pointless.

Quote:And why didn't he just put us in heaven in the first place why do we need to be on earth first then go to heaven?

Heaven is a place on Earth... but let's entertain the notion for a moment. What would be the point? Does every human go to heaven? Tongue I believe that is not a claim often made Sleepy Care to elaborate?

If God hadn't invented death he'd have had to sterilize most of the population because there would have been standing room only thousands of years ago. Big Grin

For Christians or whatever else we don't really die anyway, we would have eternal life don't forget. We kind of do anyway seeing as we will always exist within time, if you think of time as a location the same as space.

Yes sorry, that's where humans go, it's very nice, well that's what it is says on the sign. Seems crowded, and most of the smiles did seem forced. I'm glad I'm a pudding and didn't have to stay.

Because he's independent of time, tense and the rules of grammar.

It depends what you view as a punishement: life or death.

If you are part of a religion where one is meant to suffer, then death is seen as a good thing and a "better place" is awaiting you.

If you are part of a religion where death is an empty darkness, but don't worry, one day you will be reactivated, then life is seen as the better place.

And if you don't believe in a heaven, then all you have is now, and so life is the best!

And, of course, if you believe in a heaven, then an entire mythology will be created around it. Good people get the condos, really good people get the cottages, and super good people get palaces that they disdained in real life.

Now had that couple in the garden had just eaten the fruit from that other tree that their god was ok with...

The entire Bible counts as "what other people have said".

Death is the logical result of the second law of thermodynamics that states that "in all energy exchanges, if no energy enters or leaves the system, the potential energy of the state will always be less than that of the initial state.

It is ironic that science has found answers for questions like why does everything die or why do we experience pain, that religions have failed to answer (well in a way which avoids committing some logical fallacy or another).

Perfect answer. But why is it ironic? Why do you think religion should answer that question? There seems to be a fundamental flaw in the focus of your questioning. For the answers to practical mechanics you use science. To understand purpose you use religion. Logical fallacies appear when you try to use the wrong tool for the wrong job.

If you'd like to misunderstand the Bible, use the skeptics version. You will continue to be confused.

Life is great. Pink fluffy fantasies aren't life, they're a small portion. If God gave you the fluffy fantasy he'd be restricting your life. What you're getting is the best deal. Yeah... That includes death and suffering. Man up, bitch.
