He was already getting paid. It was his job to do this kind of thing.

The sick thing is, that German WW2 veterans and even warcriminals here, get a full pention.

Even former members of the Stasi including the former chief of a torture prison, get a pention here.

It`s not the US but the world - which is twisted.

It would be illogical for America to continue to provide for someone who no longer serves any purpose for it.

No, it would be logical, as Voltaire said:

pour encourager les autres

I haven't been following the story that closely, but I take it from your statement that he kinda brought this upon himself?

He did. The question is whether, pour encourager les autres, an exception should have been made.

That is one way to put it.

Those who serve at least 20 years in the military are eligible for an array of retirement benefits. Those benefits and requirements vary between the active and reserve components, each with its own complex.

Hard to believe that he would not have understood that basic idea.

Given the amount of lives he probably saved, I hope so.

The pursuit of every human is power and, in that, the United States excels. For power, sometimes sacrifices must be made. Yet, if a refusal to aid the weak and degenerate allows those with will to dominate the developed world scientifically and, more importantly, militarily, the trade-off is well worth it.

Funny... I don't pursue power. I'm actually more inclined to pursue servanthood than kingship.

Not much of a constant, imo.

Hate to agree with Minnie, but yeah, it's pretty common knowledge that 20 years of military service means a pension. 16 years means no pension. I would think if he couldn't handle combat missions anymore they would have found him a non-combat position for four more years.

This is pure speculation, but I wonder if he left with intent to cash in by writing a book, but found there's no market due to other recent special forces books.

Just the opposite, Obama took care of Bin Laden. Gave him a little eye examination.
