RE: Could Barack Obama be an Atheist?

Our president is Joachim Gauk
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joachim_Gauck
Now the German president is not a governing but a ceremonial and honory position.
He is elected not by the people but by the parlament and he is usualy a figure of historic segnificants or someone who has served the country a great deal.
The president then does things like visiting Poland and Israel, help charity organisations, speaks up in scandals.... His position is to be the moral guide of the nation.
Joachim Gauk is definatly a religious man, he was a lutheran pastor. He was a key figure in the resistance in the east german communist regime, he created the institutions to work up the crimes and history of the regime, he was and is a strong advocat of human rights, since his presidency he has done a great job in bettering up the releationship between Germany and Poland and I am proud of having such a great president.
Thing is, a presidents/chancelors/primeministers faith or non faith is not that importent for me.
It is the actions and record of a polititian on which I base and make my judgement.
If I would discredit a candidate because of his religion I wouldnt be any better than those twats who think Obama is a muslim and that that would discredit him.
Neighter would I be any better than one of those who think that an atheist hasnt got the "moral set of values" to be a polititian, like Newt Gingriche said.
And I am definatly a better person than Newt fatblob blowjobcancerwifecheat.
