I'm pleased to hear how considerate we are all toward those who actively believe in God. Certainly when someone is sick or grieving is no time to skewer them with hard questions or sarcasm (my favorite). But I think there are other times when a little tough love is appropriate.

I have a God-obsessed cousin who asked to be my friend on facebook. When her kid was sick, I let it go. But when she posted that "God was good everyone made it home from the airport safely." I couldn't help but reply how happy I was God didn't make any mischief for you this time.

Well I guess the whole - there is no way to stay true to oneself all the time without coming off as a douche to others - is one thing I don't particularly like. What I mean by this is, when I was in the hospital the first time a woman started a prayer that she wanted everyone in the group meeting to follow along with. So I left the meeting, and no I was not pissed at her. Then at my last hospital stay I went to an AA meeting they were holding there one day because I was bored. At the end they all hold hands and do prayer, I stayed sitting.

One more thing that annoys me about being an atheist is the way everyone looks at me whenever I tell them I'm a non-believer. Where a muslim or a buddhist wouldn't even get a second glance, people look at me as if I had a second head or something.
