Oh he may have been an 'atheist' alright, but he was never a true atheist. He may have said to himself "god is such a cocksucker" or "fuck god" or "who needs Him?" But I don't believe he ever wondered in his heart of hearts, "what the hell is this 'god' they speak of? How do I know that god isn't just another name for snipe?"

Good point. We all start off that way but in some homes they deliberately turn them away from the light and toward the cross.

For me personally, its's the fact that my family is overly religious and they'll be disappointed once they find out. Also, I can't help but get a little annoyed when I hear a religious person use God in every sentence.
