Actually I have read Holy Blood, Holy Grail, but thank you for assuming. I read it way back when DaVinci Code came out. I make a point of at least skimming through places where bullshitters get their wise ideas. How about just laying your shit out in a comprehensible way instead of trotting around saying you know some "secret"?

Just another nut?

Really? Man points to best-selling fiction to establish some sort of credibility for his secretive secret?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
I can't quote it precisely now, but I'm pretty sure the authors of Holy Blood Holy Grail called it historical fiction or some such in the Nat Geo show "Is It Real?" on the DaVinci Code.

Clearly some christian habits have not yet vacated the buiding. Claims to have evidence, but doesn't present it, instead making further claims that the inquirer likely wouldn't believe him (presented with said evidence) anyway.

How about just laying your shit out in a comprehensible way instead of trotting around saying you know some "secret"? Well, it is not easy to describe a complex code that relies on elements of Greek and Hebrew. Metaphorically, this code has been described as a spider's web, and have you ever tried to describe a web strand by strand? Try reading Plato's Cratylus and that should give you some idea about how this code works. Plato’s Cratylus is all about the disguising of words (and the “correctness of names”) and if you cast a “spell” on “Cratylus” you get “cratalis” from which etymologists believe the word “Grail” is derived and that should be viewed as an indication of how important Cratylus is to understanding this code. I will eventually start some threads with samples of how interpretation works, but I don't expect any one to really be convinced until they begin to see evidence for themselves in unexpected places.
I'll see evidence when I see magic.
Until then, some code in some book will not convince me... RE: Just another nut?

I really don't think it's that hard for you to lay out a premise and then begin to explain it, citing sources and answering questions as they come. The reason you're catching flak now is because you're doing what most believers do, which is saying you've found something, then saying we won't understand it (without even knowing the bona fides of the people on this forum) and thus you can't explain it.
Just read the wikipedia article about Cratylus. Not sure why that would support that there were inherent deeper meanings behind words, or that some words stood for a code, or what "spell" you're referring to. Perhaps you can send me to either the full work or the source that gave you that connection. "Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

My use of the word "spell" was intended to indicate that there is a connection between the Plato's ideas about how words can be disguised by altering spelling and the true nature of "magic". Magic is yet another cover under which allegoric ideas are communicated. You don't really believe in witches and wizards, do you? For example take a "bull" in Greek - "taurus" and add an "s" to get "staurus" and voila', you have a "cross". ("Staurus" is Greek for "cross".) Waive your "wand" (or writing implement) again and you can make taurus become "Tarsus", the Apostle Paul's home town. (Paul's name means "small" so you might also say that "Smallville" was also Paul's town.) A link for Plato's Cratylus is : http://classics.mit.edu/Plato/cratylus.html I have also created a thread in the Christianity section that offers a small sample of how I interpret allegory. |
