You have to keep in mind FNM lives in Michigan(?). They don't have good-tasting food in the Midwest, so you can't really blame them for not knowing what good food tastes like.

You should see what passes for fish there. On the west coast, it would be called "bait".

Is that the state where people wear hats made of cheese? Kind of explains a lot.

If a fish taco is holy, I want to go to hell.

You'll get no argument from me there.

RE: Local Foods
Back in Pittsburgh, PA, they put fries on pizza and subs. I rather liked that. Fries make a great pizza topping. especiallywith buffalo chicken. I miss living there.

Never tried head cheese, though.

That would be Primanti Brothers. (I saw on the web that they're in Fla now too)

Primanti started it, I believe, but many, many local pizza/sub shops do it as well. And frankly, I don't like the bread Primanti uses. It makes their sandwiches very unweildy. I just prefer a sub. And a plate or at least a styrofoam box. Not a sheet of wax paper or whatever.

RE: Local Foods
Growing up my father would insist that every one of us ate black eyed peas on the first day of the year. Something about it being good luck for the year.

Culturally we were deep south being in east Texas. Can anyone else confirm this belief in other areas of the world anywhere?

I always thought it was odd and stopped doing it after I moved away from home.

True here in east Tennessee, with collards and some kind of pork as the meat. Grits and cornbread can be included.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.
