I love Bergman's films. My wife, who detests watching foreign films (especially if they're "heavy"), insists, "I can do depressed on my own; I don't need help from a fucking DVD." Naturally, she thinks I need counseling. Lol. Maybe she's right.

But I love Bergman's films.

Just watched Star Trek Beyond, in 3D...

OK, I gotta hand it to them, they pulled off a nice movie.
The Kirk-Spock-McCoy chemistry is there, the space unknown element is there, the historical Starfleet stuff is there... but I wish they could have done something less violent... more in tune with discovering alien species and coming to understand them, the struggles, the misunderstandings, the final conclusion to just leave them alone, or, alternatively, to bring them into the Federation.
Instead, we got some bug-like violent guy bent on destroying the Federation.

Still, it was a nice watch. My first 3D blockbuster... 3D is a gimmick, indeed... but a cool one.

Just watched the new Ghostbusters movie. I'm a huge fan of the original movies so I went into this one ready to hate it, but It was actually a good watch.

I have to (sort of) disagree. While some of the newer 3D films are using it as a gimmick (see the lame Oz film from Disney), using anything that can to have stuff "pop off the screen", many are using it to add a layer of realism. I haven't (yet) seen the lates Star Trek, but "Into Darkness" was a good example of that.

"Layer of realism"? alright.... it does add depth to the pictures... but it's mostly irrelevant to the story... hence my usage of "gimmick".
Mind you, I have no idea how you can make it integrate with the story as a way to make it relevant.
As it is, it just makes CGI or landscape scenes even more beautiful.
