Amazon says otherwise...

The book of Mormon is incredibly easy to come by. They put it in hotel rooms and give it away for free on TV commercials. I have a copy that I took from a hotel. They are in fact, placed in the hotel to be taken, along with the Bible.

I, however, won't touch it now because I used it to kill this really big bug in my room. It was one of those over-sized mosquito looking bugs. They freak me out.

RE: Questions to ask a Mormon
Danny,

I've done what you are about to do and the only thing I would suggest is to stay near your computer with http://www.bilbegateway.com open so you can check all their biblical references. Me and a friend allowed a couple mission workers to preach their message to us, it was a seven week course where they visited us every Thursday. We were surprised at how poorly their biblical references supported the points they were preaching. After all, this was a presentation that the Mormon Church designed to win new Mormons. After a couple sessions with them they brought in three church elders! They were no help and gave us pat answers like, "Well, it is a matter of faith."

I don't know what Fr0d0 is on about. It was a great opportunity to learn about the Mormon religion, they were quite forthcoming about what they believe. They spoke of Elohim, the angel Moroni and the golden scrolls and how after Joseph Smith translated them (No mention of special stones or a hat into which he gazed) the angel Moroni took them back to heaven. (How conveinient!) Ok, so they didn't talk about magic underwear, or sex through a sheet or any of the weirder bits that I have only picked up from dysphemistic Christian sources but they gave me the gist.

Edit - Oh, and they went into great detail about the planet we, as men, would rule. It sounded great! We would be able to populate our planet by taking as many wives as we could find. Women can't get to heaven unless they marry a Mormon, sorry girls.

Quote:Joseph Smith apparently liked to wander in the woods collecting wild mushrooms.

But your jesus liked to wander alone in the desert....and Moses liked to wander alone in the mountains...and Mohammad like to fall asleep in caves......

This kind of anti-social behavior seems to be a sine qua non for these phony prophet types. Contrasted to the rest, Smith is no bigger an asshole than the others.

Perhaps he's came and gone, but anyway...

You might want to point out that his religion and all others are pointless if God doesn't exist. You also could inquire about the Mormon underwear and why it's so special. They'll most likely say that it serves as a reminder of special promises or covenants to God and since they think it's a symbol of what God made for Adam and Eve then they most likely believe in the talking snake. Then ask them if a rational person can really believe in a talking snake. Who knows, it might be fun. FSM Grin
