Alien invasion, yeah. Until that happens, we Turks will have conquered the world already, so don't worry, we'll handle them. I hope they have skulls so we can make cups from them!

If you say so.

Know more about the world than I knew yesterday and lessen the suffering of others. You'd be surprised how far that gets you' - Neil deGrasse Tyson

I have. Now I'm going to sleep while dreaming of world domination.
Good night.

I do sometimes when participating in historical reenactions. Besides, that guy is Sikh, his religion mandates him to wear it at all times.

LOL!

As an unrepentant (Turkish meerschaum) pipe smoker, your(secondary) claim I don't doubt! Smile

Still...assuming that the Turks alone can handle aliens of arguably superior intellect goes too far. I was implying earlier only that there are common goals we as humans, regardless of differences, could agree upon. No harm stating the obvious...particularly when the obvious is lost on those intent on focusing on said differences. I think this is all the Sikh here in the OP is drawing attention to.

You can't really know. Perhaps they'll be just beings of terror, directed by impulses, like the desire to EAT EVERYTHING ON THE PLANET.

Well, common goals, perhaps. Stopping global climate change, save the whales, and etc.
But other than that, what goals do we have, really?

Anything that ensures sustainability for future generations is worth cooperating on, I say. Differences between individuals and cultures should never eclipse that.

Well, it's not a problem that we have though. We did sign the Kyoto protocol...the US didn't.

Why is it that everyone always assumes all alien civilizations are always much further advanced than we are? What if our nearest neighbors were living in caves killing things with sticks, or maybe driving the equivalent of Model T's and oppressing their women by making them stay home and have babies?
Christian apologetics is the art of rolling a dog turd in sugar and selling it as a donut.

Compared to much of our world, that is advanced! Tongue

They are afraid, friend. They always fear "invasion". Though they do not really think of a future when we will perhaps conquer others, and instill our greatness into the universe.
If you fear of death, you cannot live.
If you fear the threat of invasion, you cannot conquer.

In order to achieve interstellar travel, they would have to be far more advanced than us. Duh.
