There is no good reason to go to the evil bastard.
I would not run toward your psychotic god any more than I would run toward Voldermort.

Abusive to whom?
If you are talking about the OT (sigh) ancient man is not a good judge of character.
Jesus on the other hand says (after our death): "Amen I say to you... whoever comes to the light, will come to me."
Pretty simple? We all have a choice. The big problem is with those who don't believe!
THEY WON'T GO TO HIM!
First of all, no I hate abusive parents.
Not talking about the OT but the entire set up of heaven earth and hell. If a dad tells his children, if you don't say you love me and live with me forever, I'll throw you in a burning pit.
Is he abusive or is he Christlike?

Why does Superman have Lex Luther? Why does Spiderman have the Green Goblin?
There is no such thing as "souls" nor a God or a Satan, so the entire argument is as pointless as arguing over Dungeons and Dragons characters.

Thing is you're using a human mind to decipher God's. Not possible.
We have Jesus' words. God is a "loving and merciful" one.
We have a choice. And by Jesus' own admission, even after our death.
Going "towards the light" is to show our love for Him, and the promise of an eternal life!
Some won't go to the light. And for what reasons? Probably one is the reason you talk about. That He is a punishing, and hateful God.
Well, then you would get what [you believe] is truth in that case!

So he's not the same as an abusive parent despite doing the same things because he told us he is "loving and merciful", and if we don't live with him forever we'll burn in hell and be proven right about what we thought about him (being an abusive parent)?
I didn't ask you to judge god, I asked you to judge this hypothetical dad. I asked you if he was abusive, in your opinion, or is he Christlike?
I just want to make sure I didn't misinterpret you.
Anyway, I don't want to live with god forever because i don't think I want to live forever, let alone with the same person for all eternity. Also he's not real, so, you know.

The same way man has been doing it since he created god? The same way Christians use their human minds to decipher god?

The words of one being that never existed speaking of another being that never existed. Lovely.

Well... just for one instant.... what if this life were a dream? And that time is just imagined! And that reality is something far, far beyond our comprehension!
Speaking of parents... Not long ago, my 7 year old daughter was asking me about Heaven, and what it was like. I said, well we don't know but imagine it's something like Disney World! Games and rides everyday! All fun and no tears!
She said: "wow, that would be great!" After a couple of silent minutes she said: "daddy?....wouldn't that get boring after a while?"
I smiled and told her: "That's why Jesus said, that our minds could never imagine what God the Father has for us!"
It's so good, and unimaginable... it will be something that we will never ever get tired of!

Lying to children regarding something that is not real. How sad.

ronedee, why didn't you answer any of my questions? And I'm not a child, that doesn't work with me.

Damn, ronedee... that is truly disgusting that you would lie to your child like that. You realize that a good percentage of the bitter atheists that exist are because of parents like you, right? If not, I hope you really think about that.
