Watching Dill play with a piece of cardboard.
Cats can be so entertaining, even with something as boring as cardboard.

I'm supposed to be moving back into my regular apartment today. It's already three hours into the day and the movers haven't shown up yet. *sigh* Doing nothing much.
I've been shopping for a new bed online. Apparently the memory foam mattresses have a considerably higher customer satisfaction rating than inner spring beds. So I'm leaning towards buying one of those boxed beds you can get online. A bit worried. I'm a toss and turner, and I'm not sure memory foam is right for me. The mattress that I've got picked out is rated as relatively firm, so I think it should be alright. (I currently sleep on a rock hard futon.) Still a bit unsure about buying a mattress sight unseen.

My parents used to have a Welsh Springer spaniel, named William (my mum's idea - don't ask), a beautifully well behaved dog. He wouldn't pull or anything, he'd walk beside you even off the lead. The most he'd do was trot ahead to the next bend in the path and wait for you to catch up.
Anyway, he got sick in some way I can't remember now, but the vet gave him a course of steroids for it. He bulked up with so much muscle he was like if the Hulk badly needed electrolysis. He could run through a brick wall and be like, "what wall?" Again, he never pulled on the lead, but if you were walking him and wanted to turn left, but he wanted to go straight on, you went straight on.

I once sat for ages watching a cat have a rare old time with a piece of string, thinking how nice it must be to be so simple minded that you can get that much entertainment from something so mindless. Then it struck me that I was the one watching a cat playing with string...
