Caught about 5 minutes of Godspell on TCM and had to quit. JFC, who wrote that shit!
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

Watching the news and ordering a veggie pizza for dinner.

Thanks Dee. I'm having IBS flareups more and more lately. I've already cut processed, boxed foods out of my diet. Slowly I'm making a list of what I can and cannot tolerate.

Stephen Schwartz, who also did Wicked, Pocahantas, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Godspell is not very good. It has some catchy songs, and the bit where Jesus and John/Judas dance on top of the World Trade Center while it's being rebuilt inspired me to, when I was in New York in 2011, take a photo of specifically the top (so far) of the new WTC because of that scene, but I have to say, if I wasn't familiar with the story of Jesus from being raised a Christian, it would make no sense whatsoever. You notice that I mentioned John/Judas dancing with Jesus on the World Trade Center roof. I say John/Judas because, in it, John the Baptist and Judas are the SAME GODDAM PERSON. It's not treated as a twist, because apart from the set pieces for each scene, there's no story and no character development to speak of. And I only know that guy's supposed to be both because in the beginning, he's summoning the rest of the hippies to dance in Bethesda fountain with a Shofar, and in the end, Jesus says he's supposed to betray him to... I don't know, unless that Pharisee robot actually has the power to brainwash his other disciples into tying him to a chain-link fence, which kills him somehow. The only reason the play/film works is because the audience can see a new reworking of familiar stories and parables in a friendly and colorful context in a familiar but safer environment. And if it didn't start in the Sixties, the chances of it catching on are nil.

Seriously, Schwartz was lucky that Western society is so entrenched in Christianity, because if not, this would not have caught on, and audiences would think it makes about as much sense as this:

(This film might make sense if you're conversant in Armenian culture and the life and works of Sayat Nova. Might. And if you don't speak any of the languages of the Caucasus, you have a small chance of finding a translation of a poem that could potentially explain something.)

Kicking back in a hostel in Calgary after wandering all over the University campus looking for (and finding) the various convention venues for the Royal Astronomical Society conference.  Picked up my convention badge and event schedule, and have the rest of the evening off.

A bit footsore -- I did a major amount of walking -- but not too footsore to go out on an evening beer romp.   Angel

Taught the youngest how to make Egg in a Nest for breakfast.

Protip: Use Texas cut bread because it actually holds the entire egg in the center.
