So that's why I'm fucked up. It was never the pot.
If only mom were alive, a big ole I told you so right up the ass.

You just needed to sleep in a bit and everything would've been all right

If I hadn’t managed to get up early every day to attend my formal education, instead sleeping in every day, I would now likely be a beach bum instead of a cardiologist.
Damned education!

So, Beccs, did you figure it out yet?

It’s what I thought it was but kinda (not seriously) thought it was only something that existed in eighties teen movies?
You know, the straight laced military type who always loses the girl and their dignity to the “heroic” nerds and other downtrodden?

I've been intrigued by this piece of music for over a decade:
This interest was spurred on by this scene from Stroszek:
In the years I've been interested in this, I have been unable to find any transcriptions of this, not being sure as to how to play this.
Flash forward to today. As I came home from work to refill my water bottle before going to my therapist, my Dad discovered a program that turns MIDI files into sheet music. I also found out that you could actually convert MP3 files to MIDI. Eventually, we managed to actually get a transcription. However, while it certainly sounded like a close transcription, it was perhaps a bit too thorough: there's enough notes that this three-minute piece of solo harmonica and Sonny Terry whooping merited THIRTY-FIVE PAGES of sheet music; and some of these note beams are cut off by the limits of the page, so it's still not quite complete. Yes, Sonny Terry really knows how to play that thing, and this is a difficult song to do, but there is no way it's that insane. I think the software is overtranscribing it. If only it were possible for the program to adjust for the notes a harmonica is actually capable of playing at any given time:
Though I suspect that, in this case, the harmonica is a B-flat (or maybe an A, with the pitch sped up a half-step like Robert Johnson apparently did)

Annoyed by my client.
She finally sent me a reply to the site redesign sketch I sent over a week ago. It's pretty clear she doesn't understand how an e-commerce site is supposed to work. Her domain is sewing and quilting, so she keeps mentioning specific things, like "oh, we'll need a button for this particular category of products." No. No, no, that's not how this works.
I've made the system flexible. It's up to her to organize her inventory in a way that makes sense and to put the items into the database (with a nice, easy set of forms on the back end). The site will automatically reflect those changes. Nothing is hard coded because inventory changes. In particular, with fabric, it's seasonal.
The frustrating part is that I've explained this to her just about every time we communicate. I'm building her a shoestring budget, sewing-focused Amazon. I'm just concerned she'll be disappointed when she finally realizes that she'll need to do the tedious work of entering in her own inventory. The site doesn't come pre-loaded.

:cryeye: But you built the website! I had a customer's consultant all over my ass in front of the customer one time because the software might make us look bad, which is the opposite of what the consultants usually do. Maybe he was just having a bad day.

No dress blues. No shiny hat. He gets the standard military grade boots, pants, tee shirts, over shirt, which is much lighter than a jacket but heavier than a normal button down shirt, cap, running shorts and a belt and two pairs of bootstraps that I had to YouTube to figure out how to use.
Morning is going to be fun. I'll need to help K with his bootstraps and then I'll have to braid S's hair for her. She wants me to cut it this weekend for her.
He's seriously talking about joining the military upon graduation from high school. Smart kid if he does it because he could probably go to college for free through the GI bill. The JROTC program will be good practice for him.

Draining the life blood out of my soul with endless tedium.
I fixed the filenames and tags in another 100 albums in my mp3 collection. In doing so, I discovered another potential problem which could mess up importing them into my media server. So I had to go back and re-check all 500 albums that I'd already done. *sigh* Is it too early to start drinking?
