If you want to encounter mass panic, try working A&E (ER) when a new 'flu variant appears and kills a few people.

Then it makes the news...

If there really were angels walking the face of the earth, they would be the medical professionals. I've had my life saved twice by surgeons and their staff. I'm sure that they take it in stride, because there is always another non-positive outcome (how's that for a euphemism?) when someone goes to the hospital nearly dead, or sick enough to soon be dead.

Unless your depressed and suicidal, in which case a majority of hospitals are useless and sometimes actually exacerbate the problem.
Not that I have any problems with most medical professionals, just the system they have to work with where mental health patients are placed at the bottom of the list of priorities.

Reading the New York Times and drinking coffee. I've got a nurse coming over about midday. Then I can sit down and watch the football game that I missed last night.

Just finished anchoring new dog crates in the van. Old ones go to the local no kill shelter tomorrow.

Eating frozen pizza (Lotzza Mozza Supreme) and reading about socialism. The meetup group I'm going to tomorrow afternoon will be discussing "Is socialism the answer?" For this particular group we're supposed to read from a selection of readings in advance so that we're prepared and don't sit around going, lolwut?" so I'm doing my due diligence.

Back from the monthly Astronomical Society meeting. Main topics for tonight were a beginners' session on binoculars for astronomy, and a presentation on the Apollo 8 moon mission (50th anniversary this December).

Also did a bit of writing and a bit of renovation tonight (I'm one 2x4 closer to finishing my study -- not much, but it does add up day by day).
