Up in the middle of the night with a headache. I've been having relatively frequent headaches lately, which I suspect are rebound headaches from overuse of pain relievers like tylenol. So, under that theory, the thing to do is to avoid taking pain relievers for a while, all the while having frequent headaches. In a word, it sucks. So, here I am with no real relief, eating oreo cookies to comfort myself and heating water for some tea.

Have you considered asking your doctor to prescribe you Imitrex? It comes in either pill or injection form. I use the injection version for migraines and in ten minutes it's like I never had a headache.

I don't think I really need it. I used to have a lot of really bad headaches. Then I went to a neurologist and he prescribed a high blood pressure medication for prophylaxis. That combined with other blood pressure medications pretty completely extinguished my headaches. Now, I've been taken off those medications, and so I am having headaches again, but not as severely as I was then. Nowadays they are only an occasional moderate inconvenience instead of the debilitation they used to be. The only exception to that is when I overuse pain relievers and get rebound headaches, because then the frequency and length of the headaches increases dramatically. But this is likely only temporary. Under normal conditions, OTC remedies like tylenol are satisfactory. If this isn't temporary, and my headache problems have returned, I'll schedule a visit to the neurologist to see what they recommend.

I don't take it often, myself. However, after years of eating ibuprofen like candy due to long term back pain, I can no longer take any nsaids at all. The ibuprofen has caused serious stomach issues.

Just watched Jack Black on Hot Ones on YouTube.
Fuck I love that show.
It's painful to watch at times and it reminds me of this time in Singapore when I ordered something that looked good and it was so hot that halfway through I abruptly left the table in flight mode and staggered like a drunk through the streets, confused, eyes watering so much I couldn't see where I was going.
It was ridiculous because the food had no taste, just burning.
When I got home I took all my clothes off and just laid on the cold tiles, the sweat on my back helped to suction cap my back flab to the floor causing these massive back farts every time I arched my back.
My wife at the time, filming me, laughed so hard she almost vomited, which you can hear plainly in what might be the most disturbing video footage on earth.

Went to the ballet tonight -- an adaptation of The Handmaid's Tale.  Suitably dark and unnerving.

Also baked brownies for tomorrow night's Astronomy Society meeting.  Tried something different with half the pan:  I split the piece like a layer cake and added a filling and a top coat of mint frosting, to create chocolate mint brownies.

You're the first person I've seen in any atheist forum with an interest in astronomy. Back in the 1960's I had my own astronomical observatory and managed an amateur group called The Rock Valley Meteor Society.

Just came back from voting for municipal and provincial elections.

Slowly rehabbing my office. I got two dressers for the island. They're back to back so I have a dozen deep drawers and the top is 13.5 square feet of flat. They're winged off my current desk so I can reach the six drawers on this side for essentials. (Two drawers are devoted to medical supplies and equipment, I don't have to get up to find the nitro any more.)

Next, the new desk replaces the old one and the hutch migrates. This will be like juggling blasting caps, but that's part of the fun.
