What's everyone up to right now?
RE: What's everyone up to right now?
There's a brushy hillside behind our house, between the property on the road above us and our patio. Woke up this morning to it being ON FIRE. I valiantly (snort) held it at bay until the bomberos came and put it out.

All before coffee. Good times.

On, by the time I made it to the back patio.

Went diving this morning, dove on a sunk tour boat, maybe a 60 footer, then hung out with some eagle rays on the second tank.

Dinking around with TV stuff. My building was not originally wired for cable television, so about 10 years back, after considerable push from the tenants, they paid to have the building wired so that tenants can receive Comcast cable service. But alongside that, they still had an antenna on the roof with parallel wiring such that tenants could receive over-the-air TV. Well, checking this morning, apparently that hasn't been maintained. And being on the south side of my building, getting signals from the transmission towers is problematic as they are all northeast of the building. I used a wall-mount antenna at one time just to try it and only got one channel, but that one channel would be enough to replace what I lost when Comcast screwed up my service contract last month. Otherwise, I would need to pay upwards of $60 a month for a streaming TV provider. So, I'm going to try some various antennas and see what kind of reception I can get.

I have yet to get through my first one lol. The first one I tried was 'Swann's Way' but only got about halfway through and it was very heavy going - a lot of description, not much action. Then tried Dickens and basically had to keep rewinding to understand each line. So I like the idea of audio books in principle.. as something you could just close your eyes and let wash over you, almost hypnotic like... but in practice for me it's going to need to be something easy to follow that doesn't require too much concentration to take in.

Just had a ~10yo boy knock and ask me to sign a petition to have abortion clinics banned in our city.

I wanted to go off on him but knew he didn't know any better. Just replied 'absolutely not' and shut the door in his face.

Fuckin far right christian programming!

I'm not much of a book person. I've never gotten through more than about 10 chapters of any audiobook. Though I'm hoping that will change a bit if I get my gear organized. I have a Kindle Paperwhite Signature that has plenty of room for audiobooks, but I haven't started using it yet. I just need to get my headphone situation handled. I have two Aukey true wireless earbud sets after I returned one for exchange because it was defective, but I need to test them before I take them to donate. With the defective pair, I brought them and put them in when I was ready to donate, testing different charging methods, and each time I got about 20 minutes in and the left earbud dropped out. That's no fun.
