Enjoyed the long weekend, went diving on Friday. I saw my first humpback whales of the season.

I just finished with another sewing session. It wasn't really planned this way but I have four quilts in progress right now. One is out of fabric I forgot I had and is winter themed. Another is out of the fall themed fabric my boss brought to me from her last big hike. One, I may wait on...not really sure I am going to like it and one is all tye-dye colored fabric...granddaughter thinks it's for her. It's not but I have enough fabric to make her one. Maybe I will for her next birthday so she has a new quilt to take to college next year.

I may even have enough of the fall fabric to make one for my boss...but that's not happening this year.

Fire engine and ambulance showed up at a group home at the end of our block and across the street, lights but no siren. They got the gurney out and left it in the yard. A few minutes later they walked a man out, put him on the gurney and strapped him down in the sitting up position then off they went.

Someones not having a good day.

They pulled me off my driveway a few months ago. Ticked 8 of 10 boxes for a stroke, but I got a Dx of TIA.

Got some things moved around in the "carving room". Actually managed to remove about 1/2 a cubic inch from a project that has been languishing for a few years. If I remove another 1/2 cubic inch per day, I ought to be done by mid next year. Delay reason- I got my left middle finger smashed last week, and am not enjoying putting force on that finger. Just waiting for the nail to grow out. What a difference time makes. 40 years ago, I was doing a brake job and dropped the (hot) brake rotor on my foot. I completed the brake job before going to the ER. My left big toe was in five pieces. Getting old, is all I can say.

At the end of my dad's days I'd sneak in shots of peppermint schnaps, he loved it in his coffee. Never enough to cause a problem.

I'd also bring peppermints, sneaky, sneaky, sneaky.

We all figured it certainly wasn't going to hurt anything.  They already had maxed out pain meds.  If a dying man wants a drink...who are we to say no?

I recall when my father’s eldest brother was recovering from a mild stroke. One of his doctor’s orders was that he was limited to one drink per day. More than once, I remember his asking his wife, ‘Ruth, did I have my drink today?’

‘Yes, Joseph, you’ve had your drink.’

‘I don’t remember it - this damned stroke has affected my memory. Maybe I’d better have another one, just to be sure.’

Been raining here all afternoon. Good thing I do not actually go out anywhere on my days off from work.

Spent all this afternoon waiting on Dad. He hasn't been feeling well lately, and it reached the point where he went to the ER. That said, he was well enough to drive there himself. And he's back. Nothing's been learned.
