What's everyone up to right now?
RE: What's everyone up to right now?
Having a peppermint mocha espresso. I enjoy my Nespresso machine. I thought that it would just be doing roughly what my Keurig can do, but it's different, and only two minutes start to finish.

The buses are fucked up tonight. Nextrip is supposed to give to the minute info and it said the #2 was coming in five minutes. Zoom it went right past me, five minutes early, didn't even slow down. So I check again and Nextrip says 25 minutes. Nothing to do but wait. An instant later it recalculated and said 20 minutes. So I ride part of the way on another bus and proceed to wait the 20 minutes for the next bus. Thirteen minutes later it pulled up, seven minutes early. The hell?

I was going to have scotch and a beer, but I settled on Jager and a shandy.

I finally had the first consultation with a disability lawyer for my SSI claims. Well, technically a paralegal, but after it, I'm starting to see how difficult my case truly will be to win. Even with a serious sleep disorder that'd make a proper 9 to 5... very difficult to say the least, there are some bizarre threads that it keeps snagging on, like the fact that, before I turned 22, there wasn't much documentation of my problems (and the sleep disorder didn't even start until later). Or that, as far as the SSA is concerned, you evidently can't be both disabled after the age of 22 AND frugal. She said it might be a hard mountain to climb, but by the end of the chat, the mountain looked a lot more like K2.

I spent a lot of the evening decompressing and writing about The Lion in Winter for Anglotopia.

Good luck with your claim.

Which version of The Lion in Winter?

Wrapping gifts. I now wonder how I managed to wrap the pile of stuff that Santa used to bring when the kids were young. I have a half dozen things to wrap this year...have one left...and I am over it.

Doing last minute shopping today because I'm a doofy and forgot a few things

This year I'm giving a bunch of stocking stuffers and gift cards, each in individual gift boxes numbering about a dozen. They're decorated so I don't have to wrap anything, but I'm trying to figure out how to seal them so that the top of the box doesn't fall off. If I weren't handicapped I could just tie a quick release bow on each, but that may be beyond my abilities. I thought about taping them shut, but then they'd be a pain in the butt to open a dozen of them. I'll try the bows first and if all else fails then I'll wrap a length of ribbon around the box and tape where the ends meet on the bottom.

My kids have always given me grief over my extensive use of tape.  I think I still do it to mess with them.

I will put some ribbons/bow on before we leave here on Christmas Eve.  For now, everything is stacked neatly and I hope Harley doesn't develop a taste for wrapped gifts in the next couple days.

Solution; Use less tape, But make it duct tape and PVC wrapping paper.  Devil
