I mentioned awhile back that I have been depressed for a time, well yesterday my wife (who is likewise sufferening) has a bit of a... I'm not sure what to call it, not a fight, but neither of us was in position to be supportive of the other. We were able to talk this morning and get the ship rudder side down at least.
Then my wife discovered that out neighbors dog Teddy passed away overnight. She was the one to find him. He's been sick and malnourished for some. Our neighbors are struggling, they have no electricity and we have been buying food for him and sneaking him hotdogs but it was all in vain. There is an illness that is rampant amongst intact dogs and most people don't bother with sterilization. We don't know what it was that took his life though. It's not been a good couple of days. Latest chapter in my struggles to get SSI: a month or two ago, I got an assessment from a lawyer who told me that, if I expected to actually get disability, I needed to start a whole new filing for a different type of SSI. They said they would cancel the hearing I already had scheduled. A week ago, while trying to do that application, I found out that they had failed to actually cancel it. So we asked them to get on that. Today, I got a message in the mail from SSA saying that the hearing for the old application (the one that the lawyers informed us was almost guaranteed to fail) was still on.
