RE: What's everyone up to right now?

Just spent 10 minutes standing out in the cold calling my cat for dinner.
Turned around and she's on the couch watching me the whole time with a smile on her face.

Daughter is waking up, Mommy just got called in to greet her, and I'm waiting for my turn to say hello...

I sure hope not.... might have been armed. That'd be scary, especially around here.
This is what I read from the fire log...
A month or so ago just after it got dark, KG and I were in the back of the house and heard some commotion in the front yard, we went to investigate. Through the picture window, we could see half a dozen cops cornering a guy in our front yard, weapons drawn. There's a hedge around most of the yard and a fence between the front and side yard - dude isn't going anywhere, but that doesn't stop him from trying to squeeze through the hedge. We go into "hands up, don't shoot" mode until one of them sees us. The suspect wasn't armed, but the cops sure were, and it's still a tense situation.
It was kinda weird, the guy didn't have any warrants, but his girlfriend - who stayed in the car - did, and she got hauled off to jail. I went to bed before I found out what happened to the guy, though I expect he was arrested as well.
Exciting times.

Proof that all cats are indeed assholes.

Just finished putting up a handrail for my MIL to get up the steps to the house. Not required by code, but she tripped awhile back (I think it was actually her dog getting in the way, and fortunately all she got was bruised). All I have left to do is paint it. It took me way too long, it seems like every thing that could go wrong, did.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

Dude went to the same home-improvement seminar I did, clearly.

Backstory: My SO's ex-husband is over $7000 in arrears on child support payments. He hasn't paid a penny in nearly two years, and every single dollar he's paid since the separation (which was well over a decade ago) had to be clawed from him through garnishment and liens. He hasn't held a job in at least 5 years, and as far as anyone can tell, he hasn't really been looking. In the interim, he attempted to start a business that never generated any income - more of a hobby really. Back in May, she was evicted because she was in arrears on her rent - for far less than what he owes her. I helped them as much as I could financially, and took her and her minor child in. Her oldest child - an adult - is now homeless and living on the streets. For certain reasons, I could not and would not take him in. In short, he's as much of a bum as his father.
TIL the state DOJ is putting him up in front of a judge for contempt of court on 9/5, which happens to be my birthday. Best birthday present ever. I don't think he'll be jailed (this time) but he really has no excuse for not paying and undoubtedly something is going to happen.
