Woot! I'll be at a meetup group on Saturday afternoon while the Vikings are playing the Jacksonville Jaguars. Fortunately, Playstation VUE comes with a free DVR service which allows you to save programs for later viewing for up to 28 days. So I won't miss the game after all. Yay!

Just came back from Ravinia. I went to see the CSO perform Bernard Herrmann's score to Vertigo with the Trib's film critic doing a discussion, and, when he brought up that Herrmann thought it should be set in New Orleans, I brought up one of his last scores, for a film called Obsession, which was more or less Vertigo set in New Orleans. Also, there was a brief introduction from Kim Novak herself. And she ended up sitting a row behind me and my Dad. Well, a few seats to the left. My left, anyway. Someone described this as being akin to a religious experience, and I pointed out, how many religious experiences do you get where the Virgin Mary is sitting right behind you?

And now, Dad thinks he's figured out the plot hole with Madeline in the old hotel. People have wondered how Madeline could get in and out without being seen, without even disturbing her keys. Well, she inherited her great-grandmother Carlotta's old things, and that hotel used to Carlotta's home. So she had her own keys, and she could just get in and out without the proprietor needing to look up from rubbing oil on her rubber tree plant. Unless they changed the locks in the interim 100 years.

Got projects coming out of my ears at work, in the middle of negotiating a truce between current and future HOA board members, and wall-to-wall packed weekends.

I took Wednesday off as a fuck-the-world day and spent it sleeping on my couch and talking to no one. It was glorious.

Now I'm procrastinating starting my day.
