Trying out my new burr type coffee grinder and a new-to-me blend of decaf coffee (Caribou). I used a medium setting on the grinder, which ground the coffee somewhat too fine. Other than that, I'm happy with the results. I'm not used to drinking full-bodied coffees, and for a decaf blend, this is more full-bodied than even my regular, caffeinated blend. It's something of a change for me. I may grow to like it. I may not. Thankfully my regular blend of caffeinated coffee comes in whole bean form as well.

Putting a cherry stain on a whitewood bench, getting rdy to drive down to alabama. Everytime we go I tell my son that we're going to see the USS Alabama - the simple idea of a battleship blows his mind. I think... he might think...that I'm fucking with him..that there's no such thing - only on tv, lol. Never get around to making the detour. Bad papa. Maybe next time. This time, I have to fix a dock and a deck, drag out a post fence, and clear fallen pines.
(I'm still gonna tell him we're going to see the battleship - it's part of the ritual.)

Munching on a salad and having second thoughts about buying a Fire HD tablet come Black Friday. I hardly use the tablet I have, taking it to my philosophy group once a month, and even then I can easily get by without it. $100 seems rather extravagant for an upgrade of something that I hardly use. And my computer printer needs replacing. That would be a far better use of my money than the tablet.

Funny thing is, there really is a USS Alabama, and it's actually moored and publicly accessible (though not cheap) in Mobile. That said, you may not actually be heading that far south (unless you are), and maybe you might actually be putting it off on the off chance he isn't enthusiastic about seeing the battleship after he actually does see it.

The deemed my dad well enough to discharge so that's been done. He's in assisted living now. He deteriorated so fast. At least he'll be able to see the family more often now. My sister is 3 hours away but everyone else is within 15 minutes.
My wife may be coming home on Sunday. I'm picking her youngest up at the Greyhound station in Portland in a couple hours.
