Well, at least my eye’s stopped bleeding. No word from the doctor about whether or not that was a bad thing or not. For what it’s worth, Dad apparently knew one of the nurses who assisted in the surgery. Said I was brave, even though I wound up bringing along an index card that I wrote The Litany Against Fear on both sides and started to recite it as the IV was stuck in. So, as a reward for being a good boy during my first proper surgery, and a celebration that it looks like I won’t go blind before it comes in, I ordered a hardcover copy of the edition of George Buchner’s complete I Loved as a teenager.
Edit: whoops, false alarm, the eye is back to bleeding.

Okay, after some searching, it looks like this is a common side effect for septoplasties, what with the effected areas being extremely close.
The bad news: while I still haven't gotten a response from the doctor and it looks like I won't until tomorrow at least, it seems this common side effect will still last for about 48 fucking hours.
The good news: this seems to be a largely harmless side effect. Surprisingly, when it flames up, it looks like my eyes are just watery and blurry, and it only looks disturbing when you wipe it off and it's all red. But, hey, at least it's not likely that by the time that complete collection of Georg Buchner's plays (from the epic Danton's Death, Semi-Shakespearean comedy Leonce and Lena, and remarkably avant-garde but semi-unfinished [the textual history of the play is very complicated] Woyzeck), novellete Lenz (about the growing madness of an actual German author), a pamphlet (agitating for rebellion against the ruling classes of Hesse), and letters arrives, I'd go blind.
Also, it looks like this song is now bizarrely appropriate:
And if only I had the foresight to find my eyepatch so I could contain the bleeding with Kleenex.

Sippping on a pitcher of Bloody Mary's. These are Famous Dave's Devil's Spit mix Bloody Mary's. I don't normally indulge this early, but the ice bucket was overflowing, so I figured what the hell. They make a "Rich & Sassy" version which I think I'll try next. The Devil's Spit is a bit hot.

Well, good sign: my eyes have been getting watery and the Kleenex is actually clear with maybe some residual dried blood.

Forgot to make my coffee earlier, so I’m still awake as it brews. When it’s done, it goes in the fridge.
I’ve learned to love cold coffee, especially since it goes down faster and easier before I have to get ready for work in the evening.

I like Mr & Mrs. T Bold and Spicy mixer. Three shots of vodka in a 2 liter mug, half full of ice, fill with the mixer. Chase with popcorn.

Following some of my cousins on Google Maps. They've built their own "armored car" and want to remind the state police who is REALLY IN CHARGE AROUND HERE. I figure that rig exceedS the load limit on the very first bridge by 200%. That should remind them that Newton is REALLY IN CHARGE AROUND HERE.
