Wondering how I'm still alive after having a month long literal psychosis. This is the 5th time I've been admitted to an asylum.

I normally do 20 minutes of cardio every morning, but I was busy fixing something I broke on the computer and almost forgot. Ordinarily Alexa will remind me, but I'm doing a complete upgrade of my main computer and don't have sound or Alexa hooked up yet. I tried connecting Bluetooth from the computer to my A/V receiver, but MS' Bluetooth drivers suck, so it's worse than no sound at all. It's weird doing exercise videos without sound.

Only reason I'm even able to write this is because after moving to the open ward, we get more gadget freedoms back.

Feeling crushed. My youngest, Cormac, asked me if there were actual kids in wars. My answer didn't satisfy, he'd gone to bat with his siblings against the idea and how it implicated the character of his father. I think he's more angry that I didn't back him up than anything - but that's the end of the myth of their father for the last one.

No worries, there's gonna be a wake.

Heating water for tea and dinking on the internet. I'll be upgrading the CPU on this computer in a couple of hours, and I've been worrying endlessly that something will go horribly wrong. Even after 20 years of building computers, I still fear the worst. I guess my lot in life is to be a worrier.

Yesterday, managed to get an appointment with a pulmonologist for Monday at 1. If he finds nothing, then my doctor has no idea what to do about my chronic cough.

Also, since Trump's out of office, I've changed by signature to remove the "Trump: We're all Nihilists Now" line, and, while I'm at it, replaced the broken MyBannerMaker in my sig with a new one from Webestools:



Also, someone gave Dad a banjo, and, it's actually in pretty good condition. Surprisingly for a throwaway instrument, the most pressing problems are that one of the saddles (at least I think that's the terminology) in the bridge is gone and the action is extremely low (like the first couple frets don't change the pitch at all low). Also, it's got no name, and I think the American Eagle design makes me think it might be from the Bicentennial era.

Successfully upgraded my CPU. I won't say things went flawlessly, because they didn't. I dropped my screwdriver four times. And after removing the old CPU, I noticed that the pins in one corner of the socket looked funny, so I worried for the next two hours. But it appears to have turned out all right in the end. I thought it might take me an hour or so, but it was over 2-1/2 hours from start to finish. I am so glad that's done.
