Opening a bottle of Connemara peated Irish whiskey. It's very nice. Light, with honey notes.

My plans for gifts for my brother-in-law changed rather dynamically today. I was going to get him a sampler of Minnesota made craft beer for a birthday gift, but he's awfully picky about his beer, so I was having second thoughts. Meanwhile, Surdyk's is having a summer sale, including on the Ardbeg Wee Beastie. He didn't have an Ardbeg when I visited this weekend, so that and some proper whiskey glasses seemed ideal for birthday or Christmas. So I grabbed the Ardbeg, and I'm glancing around and notice a very nice scotch whiskey sampler, including mini bottles of Oban, Talisker, Lagavulin, Mortlach, and Singleton. It's a bit much for a birthday gift, but I'll give it to him at Christmas. Plus, it rang up $5 cheaper than was listed on the shelf tag. Win-win!

Anyway, I picked up a bottle of Wee Beastie and Connemara for myself. I'd decided to take a bit of a break from buying whiskey, but I can't resist a sale.
