What's everyone up to right now?

They're like smaller versions of a Komodo Dragon. The one I met today didn't do the usual thing and creep off the side of the path, he went tearing off down the track.

The track, post and rail fence and then it steeply falls off to the sea, steeper and screeish the other.

I think I may have encouraged him to run once he started, it was a thing to see.

I wasn't to know some tourists were going to come around the bend at that moment, perhaps it was reasonably foreseeable that some might but on this occasion the gift of foresight wasn't with me.

I confess, I found their frantic attempt to climb the fence quite funny.
Not a bad reaction really, you don't want six foot of serious fearful lizard seeing you as a vertical tree like thing, offering sanctuary and then trying to climb you.

"We didn't know what it was"
They've got a story, the lizard will probably be much bigger in their version.

That's hilarious. Where I lived we had monitor lizards in the drains and they occasionally venture out, we weren't afraid of them. But they weren't 6 ft long, I think the biggest I've seen was 1 metre or so in length.

Trying to figure out what I'm going to do at work for the rest of the day - aside from waste time on the internet. It actually makes me feel bad to be at work and not doing billable things, or even something that contributes to the office in some way, but there is literally nothing for me to do. (I've cleaned my desk, I've cleaned the print station, I've cleaned all the printers, I've done dishes, I've off loaded personal stuff from my hard drive, I've repositioned my office octopi in several funny positions, I've reorganized stuff on my cubicle walls, I've played words in both my Words With Friends games, I've checked facebook about 25 times, I've watched some youtube videos, and now I'm down to cycling New Posts in AF.org. This sucks.)

Worse yet, I have to do it all over again tomorrow when only one other person will be here - and she doesn't have anything to do either. The bonus about tomorrow, though, is if we tough it out until noon my boss is buying us lunch and the probably sending us home early. Smile
Teenaged X-Files obsession + Bermuda Triangle episode + Self-led school research project = Atheist.

Well, you could always do what I did today - show up late and make up for it by leaving early.

Snowed in, well, can't go anywhere that'll make going out in the snow worth it. Life is so boring when I'm not busy and can't leave home.

Great wind storm. Where the top panel of my kitchen window is no longer double glazed, the single pane of glass has come loose and was making loud noises as the wind bashed it about. I had to improvise with a washing up sponge and cut it up and shove it in the gaps around the edges to prevent the wind smashing the glass at any moment. It worked, and you cant even see the bits of sponge. I may well leave it like that.

You know what your priorities are when you knock a glass of tequila off the desk, and you're less troubled by the loss of the glass than you are by the loss of the tequila.

I retired my XP workstation that's been my primary workstation for 12 years. It's an old Northwood P4 type Celeron 2.5 ghz. I'm currently using the box that is going to be recycled into the living room HTPC. There's very little software on this box, having just reinstalled windows, and I have graphics and "My Documents" to pull off the other box, so this feels a little barren. I have the KVM (computer display, keyboard, mouse switcher) all hooked up to cables for four computers, but the only one hooked up at the moment is this Gigabyte box. I will be hooking up the two HTPCs that I'm developing for a) my sister's use, and b) my bedroom HTPC soon, as well as my new workstation which is yet to be fully configured, much less have all the software loaded. (It's an i3-3220 based system.)

Geek out!

Enjoying my digital fireplace, a glass of Sprite, and "Hot Rose" cinnamon flavored tequila liqueur.

I should probably eat today.

I'm listening to my girlfriend play the flute in the loft overhead, while I wait for the paint to dry that is serving as grass in my painting that will hopefully depict a field of green grass with the backdrop of a tree-line effected by the autumn season colors of orange and red. Simultaneously, I am entertaining the possibility of a computer being capable of doing the very same thing! It's good to be human today.

I'm drinking a crown and coke Apo! I just ate about 7 lumpia rolls that a Phillipena nurse sent home with my girlfriend the other day. I'm not a big fan of most phillipeno quinine, but I fuckin love them little eggrolls with siracha hot sauce! Delicious! I'm sure I'll pay for it in the cost of toilet paper in the a.m. though!

Feeling old. I'm organizing my software installation disks in preparation for the reinstall. I pulled my copy of Visual Studio, it's VS 2005! Oy! (I think there's VS Express now, so probably no point, but I thought I'd pull it anyway. Not sure I will program or not. And if so, I'll probably focus on content creation stuff like PHP.)
