I don't know, we have a saying where I'm from that when you're around 50 you've fossilized. Meaning it's very hard for you to change your ideas (not that you become as boring as a rock). Young people haven't formed a lot of strong ideas about a lot of issues and if we have we've only invested like a couple of years in them, so we're more fluid in a sense.

Doesn't mean there're more young atheists though. Atheism was around long before it's well known, I was an atheist 2 years before I heard of Richard Dawkins.

I prefer to think of it as having discarded a lot of notions on my way to fifty, and a higher percentage of those I have left stand up to scrutiny or are inscrutable.

It seams rather strange to me but it looks like the common age group of Atheists on this site is around 16 - 25. Is there anything to be read from this? E.g. Perhaps Rebellion?

Or are there older people here who are in the shadows - Just I've been wondering why we have never seen many older Atheists.

Cheers,

We are riding the coattails of the preceding generation. They didn't quite make it and got caught up in a lot of New Age babble. But still ended up being in the non-religious category. So perhaps it is directly related to just not being involved in the major religious institutions and therefore not being as heavily indoctrinated.

Um, not quite. I said I deconverted from being a pious Christian about 30 years ago, not when I was 30. When I introduced myself, I also mentioned that after my deconversion, I thought of myself as sort of a pantheist for many years because I wanted to believe some force was behind the beauty of the universe, but a closer study of evolution convinced me there is no room for any kind of intelligent design, not even guiding the evolutionary process.

Cheers,

I'm 28, and no there's nothing that can be read from you thinking that a lot of people seem to be inbetween the ages of 16 and 25 on this website haha.

That's such a vague statement to make, it's like me walking through town and thinking mmmmm there seems to be a lot of 20 - 29 year olds around today something must be going on. I think in general people on the internet on forums tend to be around this age from my experience .

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.
