GOP: OK, what about this?
D: Nope.
All of the fuckers are responsible, but guess what? Many of them are just doing what their constituents voted for. The tea party people were voted into office by those who wanted TP ideals. The Dems likewise. If you don't like the results you'll have to change government to get rid of checks & balances.
The problem is that at the next elections Democrats will vote for Democrats and Republicans will vote for Republicans and nothing will change. And both parties like it that way. It keeps them in power and the bottom line for any elected official is not what's good for you but reelection.

The good news is that it appears that the republicans are going to cave in on the debt ceiling. Koch is already disowning the shutdown and debt hostage taking.

And apparently no matter how unpopular Congress becomes, everyone gets fucking reelected, so there is no incentive for the politicians to reign in their unpopular ideas.

Have you ever seen Leave her to Heaven? In the film Gene Tierney plays a girl with an obsessive love for a man so deep that she allows the man's brother to drown when she suspects he loves him, gets pregnant to try to keep him close and kills her unborn child when it doesn't work out, and finally kills herself and blames her sister for it when the man finally leaves her. She loves her man so much she's willing to kill anything that she perceives comes between the two of them, even if it's does her more damage in the long run.
I think the connection between the movie and the current situation with the Republican Party and the shutdown should be pretty clear.

That's because congress gets low ratings as a group. Individually, these politicians seem to be rated highly. Go figure.

Yeah everyone hates congress - but THEIR congressman is not the problem, of course.

The word for today is GERRYMANDERING.
Quote:In the process of setting electoral districts, gerrymandering is a practice that attempts to establish a political advantage for a particular party or group by manipulating district boundaries to create partisan advantaged districts. The resulting district is known as a gerrymander (/ˈdʒɛriˌmændər/); however, that word can also refer to the process. When used to allege that a given party is gaining disproportionate power, the term gerrymandering has negative connotations.
In addition to its use achieving desired electoral results for a particular party, gerrymandering may be used to help or hinder a particular demographic, such as a political, ethnic, racial, linguistic, religious, or class group, such as in U.S. federal voting district boundaries that produce a majority of constituents representative of African-American or other racial minorities, known as "majority-minority districts".

That's okay, they'll nail "big business" with fines- WHAT?! Big Business is exempt for a YEAR?! AND they're lowering hours of full timers to less than 30 hours?! OBAMA considers 30 hours FULL TIME?!

Vote Democrat- It's easier than owning a business.

The cause of the slowdown is the Obama administration and Dusty Harry Reid, (whose home state of NEVADA is participating in Obama care- WAIT?! It's NOT?!) who would rather talk to terrorists in Iran, or KGB men like PUTIN, than senators. Wait a minute, wasn't Putin a Russian during the height of COMMUNISM. What strange bedfellows.

The worst thing about the slowdown, during which the IRS is still collecting $250B monthly, and our bills are only $18B monthly, is that it's taken the focus off OBAMACARE. If this were a FETUS, DEMOCRATS would've aborted it long ago.
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!
Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.
Dead wrong. The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.
Quote:Some people deserve hell.
I say again: No exceptions. Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it. As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.
