Nothing he says makes any sense to anyone, though.

I don't think he's capable of making sense, especially after he sounds like he's been hitting the Gin for a decade or five.

If peace of mind and total and permanent happiness could be achieved physically or mentally then we can say that nothing else is needed but as we know that is not possible that is why we need something else and that things able to give peace of mind and happiness is located within.
Many people say that they are ok or happy enough but that is not true.
If it is true they would not seek changes in their lives.
Have you ever seen anybody happy and content with what they have?
Go and find these people and then let me know. Smile
It is part and parcel of human nature to change all the time until they reach the very top of human emancipation.
Not many people understand this point but whether they understand or not they are driven to reach the top.
A drop of water will keep on going towards the ocean and only when will reach the ocean she will become the ocean herself.
Human being whether they like it or not they driven by a mysterious force and this attraction will ultimately lead them in the big ocean of cosmic consciousness.
It is by resisting (not feeding the consciousness) that imbalances pop up and life become harder and harder. Cool Shades

So what are you saying? One day the human race will converge into a giant hive mind?

Just stay away from daytime TV and you should be fine.

It's not escaped anyone's notice, rico, that you sidestepped my comment by pretending it wasn't relevant.

As for all this crap about taking away kudos - frankly, I'm finding it extremely difficult to care. Nobody else feels the need to brag about handing out or removing kudos; the Freudian in me (Tongue) wonders wonder why you do?
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

In fact it was not relevant at all.
Your analogies point out to a system in chaos.
We all know this.
We were rather talking about whether medical science is making progress or not.
Considering that hospitals, rehab centers, nursing homes are full of sick people is easy to deduce that medical science is not making any progress at all.
Again you are confusing staying afloat with progress.

Not at the same time.
If everything start at the same time one day everything will finish at the same time but that is not how the system works.
The universe goes on and on and is quite possible that different dimensions are there from ever to ever.
The race has been going on from ever and will go on for ever so if you start this race today you may finish tomorrow but if Mr x will start tomorrow he will end up his race after tomorrow and those who started their race in the past it is likely that they already finish their race.
Beside there is not an hive.
What originate from the cosmic mind goes back to the same mind.
A drop of water originate from the vast ocean and one day will go back into the same ocean to be the real ocean.

You know enrico, your ramblings are unnervingly similar to that of schizophrenic patients. They share the same conviction of their ideas as you do. I watched a documentary where one man was sure that if he killed himself, he would go to hell and then return to earth with magical powers. You can see how dangerous delusions are right?

No wonder that they are not working.
The reason is that they have little to do with spirituality.
I have seen people who look at crystal for hours hoping to sort out their problems.
I have seen religious people who say that they are engaged in spirituality not having a clue what spirituality is and so on.
The list is infinite and goes on for ever.
Spirituality is the effort to grasp the knowledge, the wisdom and the pleasure that lie within and that can only be achieved by working very hard and the best way is through intuitive science although there are different ways.

Quote:Modern medical science, on the other hand, has proven to be remarkable effective in both treatment and prevention of illness.

I do believe in medical science.
I wouldn't go to see my doctor time to time otherwise but that is not the point.
We are talking about solving problem for good not putting bags of sand there were the water spill to see the problem recur elsewhere.

Quote:I don't really have the time to do the research right now, but I'm pretty damn sure that while the number of hospital beds per capita in 1st world countries has fallen (at least in general), the instance of infection per capita within same counties has fallen a damn sight more dramatically. You have to bear in mind that it's not just the application of surgical procedures and pharmaceuticals that caused this drop in diseases, it's also due to improved sanitation, easy access to clean water, better food hygiene, etc...

You have seen that!
I have seen every single working day countless people chocking up the health system and i have seen countless of people out in the community unable to send their dear one in rehab. centers or nursing home because there is no vacant beds or because it cost a lot of money to get in.

Quote:Do you have anything to show that there is, or at least could be, such a thing as you're suggesting (a sort of "disease equilibrium", for want of a better term)?

In the past obesity and diabetes were the diseases of the rich, today they are the disease of the middle class as well as the rich.
Dementia, Parkinson and Alzheimer diseases are totally out of control.
No cure so far.
These are just the spills that occur when you fix the problem elsewhere. Wink Shades

Let us see who is a delusional.
Someone say that life is finite without bring evidence of it while someone else say that life goes on bringing evidence from thousand of NDE and logic evidence from the fact that knowledge and wisdom can not be build up in a lifetime.
So who is the delusional and who is the wise? Thinking
