No, we don't know that "something" caused everything. That is applying everyday cause and effect thinking to an increasingly distorted and incredibly weird scenario as we try and model what happened around the plank time. We simply don't know. Just making up answers doesn't aid understanding.
Even if there was a cause, then I'd call it a cause. For all we know, it's a computer programmer making this reality as a simulation, or the point at which our reality broke off from another one and grew on its own. Calling it "God" straight away suggests a load of extra features, not least of which is sentience. I understand the need to give everything a personality and link it to us, but there is no grounds to do so, even if there is such a cause. If "God" just means "cause", then why use a different word? Trying to slip in someone personal favourite specific God maybe

The most a theistic/deistic labelling can say with any safety is "the Universe was created by something that creates Universes", which adds precisely nothing to the discussion. Calling it "God" necessitates a deus ex machina skyhook of George Lucas proportions.

Maybe the term "created" shouldn't even be the term used in this case.
Nothing created the universe because it wasn't created. It just morphed ...(from a toaster maybe?) Abiogenesis on a universal scale! yep ...it started out of nothing. (heavily compressed mind you ...

It also hinges on the subtle but crucial matter of how we are defining 'Universe'. Do we mean the set of everything between the Big Bang and whatever is its ultimate fate, or the set of everything that will ever exist (which by definition must include the first set)?
