I was blessed when he came to me and as a result it completed my faith which would have most likely been the final barrier between me and salvation from myself. For this I thank him as it was and still is miraculous.

Things is, pops...it's all you. YOU are the one who dragged yourself out of that hole. You came close to breaking point but you were able to call upon some inner reservoir of strength to help overcome it. You deserve all the credit for going toe to toe with your depression/borderline psychosis and being able to beat it back. You did it all.
It's great that you feel better either way, but it's sad that you don't realise your own capabilities, and feel the need to ascribe this experience to some ethereal external force. You're stronger than you know, and you don't need to lean on imaginary friends. Nobody does. Nobody ever did. Besides all of this I wish you all the best, however

It's obviously not the general "whatever it was that lead to us" that he started with Rob, but who didn't see that coming the minute he started babbling about his lord, and god's laws, and how his interactions with us were for -our- benefit?

Just god. And yes in a sense it was and is all me because we are all linked directly to good and bad and chaos.
