Actually the bible does not say you will go to Paradise. Jesus mentioned that Explicitly to the thieves on the cross.

What it says in Revelation is what you have to look forward too. That is that you will worship / sing and pray to God for ever and ever.

Did you know what you have Just said smacks God in the face of everything. You cannot possibly say that he is a Father and Loving when he would consign me to a fiery lake of burning sulphur. What father do you know lets their son die so that he can forgive those people that hate him.

And also if God is truly a ‘Father’ then what father would consign his children to burn as a punishment. God should definitely win father of the Year.

See with regards to what you are saying about the Church I believe this is a problem for most atheist and even Christians so I think that God would allow my lack of belief on the basis that for me to believe I need to have something firm to base it upon.

God does not know the future or the past. Common guy seriously if he did you are honestly saying that God is responsible for the people who don’t believe in him as he knows each person so he would know what little it would take to make each person believe.

Well, I have trust and belief that my chair is a good chair, so I have faith in it, and I believe that it won't tip over, which I believe for no good reason without evidence, so I have faith that it won't tip over. However I can say that it has never tipped over, although once it came very close and I had to stop leaning backward very quickly.

Thats not faith in so far as how the bible defines it, that is better defined as trust. The bible defines fatih as being assured in what you cannot know. You can know your chair won't break or fall by looking at it.

That's how the dictionary defines faith. The bible doesn't know what faith is because the bible was written in hebrew, and then in aramaic. You're using the word wrong if you think the bible defines it, the bible stole the word of witch.

When you go to a movie, you go knowing it will end. But that does not stop you from going. When you go to a music concert, you go knowing it will end, but that does not stop you from going. When you go to a sporting event, you know that someone will lose, and maybe even your team, but you still go knowing it will end.

See, I don't have your bully narcissist of a god character holding my life hostage. I find good in life without assigning it to magic. I love my mother. I also love my cat. I find beauty in sunsets and clear night skies. But I also face reality including the not so nice stuff, but I do so without superstition or fear.

I'd recommend you keep your god belief it that is what it takes for you not to pop yourself. But don't sell your koolaid to us and pretend we need it.

I'm not raining on your parade. You're raining on mine. This gives me license to rain back.

If you want to live your life thinking you'll go to paradise at the end I don't care. I don't. But if you want to tell me I'll go to hell, then I take issue with that. Why would your all loving god send someone who lived a good and virtuous life to hell, just because they didn't believe in him? That's not all good and loving. Are you saying that a buddhist would go to hell, because they didn't believe? Are you saying that the huge number of people who believe something else, that outnumber the Christians will go to hell? To me that is you, being a sinner, and saying that other people with different beliefs are less than you, and will be banished to eternal hellfire.

Hell isn't Christian. It's Pagan. Christianity is a sequel to Judaism. There is no hell in Judaism. When the Jewish beliefs combined with the Pagan, heaven and hell were formed.

I can't tell you how to live your life. Give me the same courtesy and don't tell me how to live mine.

Dunno, I don't know where you'll go, I don't know where anyone (including myself) will go. I can have faith, and maybe one day we will all wake up in paradise. Because verily I tell you, it seems as if hell is on earth sometimes.

Brian37 would you go to the same football knowing that at the end of it you would be nothing? Or would you rather go to a lacrosse game (maybe a sport you don't like) and wake up in paradise? Even if the lacrosse game was across the earth, there was a bounty on your head, and you would probably never make it? Would you at least attempt to go to the lacrosse game? Even if every other human on this planet went to the football game and told you that you had no hope? Wouldn't you search for hope, even if it scientifically or probably couldn't be found?
