RE: A Miracle!!
Scientific experiments can be demonstrated. Can God?

Only if you assume we arn't hallucinating when seeing the experiements.

I think Gods existance is demonstrated through personal experience. I pray and answer, healings, that when you put faith in God it works out, etc. My experience wont convince you but that is why its a personal relationship.

Personal experience in and of itself can't be trusted in matters of science, more scrutiny is required than that. Why is God allowed such low standards of evidence?

God is an extraordinary claim and extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. You're going to have to do better than personal experience IMO.

No, it's not just an idea in the mind of men in white coats. Science is repeatable and testable. If someone thinks that scientist X has lied or screwed up, you can repeat their test and see if you get the same results. This is how science advances. Sure, it may just be all luck or some external "being" making up the results as he goes along, but since there is no evidence of such a being, we are left with the conclusion that this is how nature operates. Even if the being did exist, and controlled everything, our results still show the same thing, and "nature" would simply be whatever the being chose, even though it has been consistent so far.

If we were all hallucinating the results, then all science reveals is the nature of our hallucinations. I fail to see the difference between that and showing us the nature of...well...nature, given that we have nothing to compare it to?

Have a look at the story of Marjoe on the net, a child faith healer who later packed it in then explained how it was done. There are many stories of faith healing, unfortunately idiots who believe the rubbish spouted from these con men who throw away their meds and end up in either the hospital or cemetery.

EvidenceVsFaith: Im not asking for personal experience to be used as science though. Theres more to life than since and somethings are outside the realm of science.

Tiberius: Good point. By the way I wasnt actually try to disprove science, it was just random tangent I went off on, lol.

AngelaRachnid: No she wasn't that young. I have a rough idea of her age from what she said, just not down to the exact age. She was about 15 give or take a year maybe.

Everything that exists is in the realm of science.

If it exists it can be tested in some way eve if we dont know how at the moment.

Interesting idea downbeatplumb...

How do you know everything that exists is in the realm of science? What if there were things existing outside of our universe, obeying completely different laws, undetectable by us?

How do you know that somethings are outside the realm of science? It sounds quite reasonable to make this statement, but when you sit down and think about it, surely it's simply an assumption isn't it?

If something is outside the realm of science it must also be outside the realm of the Universe and therefore cannot make any meaningful sense and so cannot be. Q.E.D.

It perhaps can be... it just is not here (in this universe) Smile

But why should that be outside the realm of science? It operates under different laws... but surely it operates under laws?
