Actually I think its also a sin if you use the corn dog hole for the penis, and its probably a sin to put the corn dog in the other hole come to that.

OK, so a "sin" is anything that's more important than god? How many believers would trade their bibles for water in the desert? I'm guessing most of them.

So it's not just worshipping something else that's sinful. It's having it be of great personal importance to you, to the extent that you might be thinking about the chocolate mousse instead of about god? It must be very exhausting to worry about this all the time.

Nah, all about the interpretation. For your example, they just tell themselves that they're spreading the word of god even when they're dying of thirst.

Why would a bible be a equal in value to a bottle of water?

Hey fff. Thought I would respond now that I am well rested Big Grin You said I answered very passionately. Not really. The thing about the internet is that it doesn't interpret your tone. I meant it to be in a teasing way, not angry. I was being me.

I understood your point. My point was that gluttony does not only apply to Christians and that Christians commit many more "sins" than just gluttony. I know you were just picking one. Living in the USA we all know that gluttony is a HUGE problem here. All you need to do is see the advertisements for our major restaurant chains and see the portions. It's shameful. I agree with this. I agree that the majority of obese people are this way due to unhealthy eating habits, but I had to throw it out there that some are not. My mother has a thyroid disorder, that added with a certain medication that she has to take for something unrelated to that makes her gain weight even though she doesn't eat disproportionately. She's an exception. Exceptions are out there.

When I was a Christian I witnessed many more "sins" by the very leaders: rape, greed, dishonesty, adultery, lust, hate, and envy, to name a few.

Religious folks are always quick to concede that their religion does not necessarily make believers better person.

So here's a question, what's the point believing? What's the point of claiming nonbelievers need your religion if your religion doesn't make us better persons? What's the point of being superior on paper when in actuality your chances of being an asshole is just the same as ours?

Now, because we are in an atheist forum, I need to make sure we are starting from the same basis. I don't want to say why we need Christianity to be a better person and then end up disagreeing on what a better person is.

Actually that supports that it was made to manipulate people by making up sins that are things that people can't help (sexuality) and then make them feel guilty. Besides your god sins too.

No. We as humans need to understand that shit happens, and hope that religion falls through the cracks of history as evolution continues proving it wrong. If by "All have sinned" you therefore mean that all need a savior (i.e. Christianity), Then know that I reject that. What is sin, and how do you know that I've done it?

"The bible says......" yadda yadda yadda. The bible is not proof of your claims, it merely supports your delusions.

Ok, no Bible quotes. But if there is an idea in the Bible that also agrees with an idea that we can both agree on, can I use that?

For example- loving your neighbor as yourself. Treating others the way you would want to be treated. Do you agree with that idea as being a good idea and worthy of trying to follow?
