Twitter is one of the most useless forms of communication. It's just fun for saying quick tidbits, and not much more.

Twitter useful? I'd like to see some evidence of that.

Twitter is the fastest news service on the planet. It has connected millions of people together in a way they have never been before, and has provided a microblogging platform that is more attractive to people who don't have the time to write a full one (i.e. most people).

So it contains a lot of litte data. Is there a proper information retrieval system to collect these bits of data to be of any use?

Isn't twitter kind of like Wikipedia with much smaller articles, NO fact checking, and instant distribution based on opt-in sign up?
It seems to me as either a plaything for people who don't have time to update facebook, or one of the worst ways of obtaining information... ever!
