Does it cow them further, or does it push them into more revolt?

The knowledge that their lives are in greater danger than they may have hitherto realized will likely cower the majority of women and girls in the short term, so they would be less ready to act overtly against their oppressors. But in the long run it would also instill in large portion of them increased conviction that Islam is rotten, wicked and incompatible with making the life of women and girls more bearable, and would thus promote widespread social rot in Islamic society by making half the population sullenly resentful, and always on the look out for any opportunity for passive resistance and deniable sabotage of all aspect of Islamic social and culture life in which women takes part either directly or indirectly.
In the long run, the alienation of womenfolk from the hope of improvement in their lives will undoubtedly harm Islam's effectiveness as sustainable conservative cultural force far more than girl's education could ever have. FUCK, I really get tired of people who rightfully blast Islams current ass backwards state as being the only evil religion in the world. Both Christianity and Hebrews have had their tribal beefs and oppression of outsiders. Not even the orient with Hinduism or Buddhism is free from historical tribal sectarian beefs with both insiders and outsiders. Sexism exists in every religion to a greater or lesser extent. People pick on Islam because right now the east is currently 200 years behind the west. But the Christians in the west oppressed women to the same degree for a long time. And even today, attempts from the right in this country still try to turn back the clock.
Is the strawman put there purely in the hope of picking a needless fight?

Islam being our current focus does not change that religion is sexist as a whole. Name me a rampant flood of Jewish female Rabbis world wide? Name me the long line of female Dali Lamas in Buddhist history. |
